well i'm apprenticing i'm 2 months in and my teacher said that the easiest way to go at least for her is disposable stuff plastci and that nature, she said even when you autoclave it dosen't get it all out, we also work out of her home studio it is very clean. but we don't do a ton of work so it doesn't cost much. if i were you i wouldn't tat myself unless i'm being watched and hell don't do it at home unless you have a studio. not clean enough you could get infected, and as the other guy said you sould be using shop supplies not your own, however i did buy my own gun better for me than hers. but good luck

First, if you are apprenticing, you don't have a personal need for a sterilizer. You should be learning on and using the shop's autoclave.

Second, if you are talking about blowing up your kitchen that means you have essentially a stove top pressure cooker model and those are crap.

It also means that you are carting home "contaminated" supplies from a studio, or you are an at home scratcher. Either way - disgrossting!

Edit notes: Apprentices do not tattoo themselves at home - they should be observed. It is still crap equipment. You don't sterilize at home on your stove! If you are in a real apprenticeship, they would tell you how to use an autoclave. We don't teach scratchers here. Based on another one of your answers, it's pretty clear you are home brew. No way.
