Is there anywhere on the internet where I can find out if an individual is still alive?

I have lost contact with my ex wife many years ago. At that time she was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Now I need this information and don't know how to obtain it.

If anyone can help me out here I would greatly appreciate it. The first 4 answers didn't help.
