Guy behaviour explained?

my friend introduced me to her friends and there was this guy. whole evening he tried to impress me, kept telling me that im beautiful and cute.few days later my friend told me that the guy wants to see me again,but didnt get my phone number from my friend,even though she offered it.i didnt see the guy for few months.then my friend,him and me went out for dinner and drinks together.he paid lots of attention to me and was a real gentleman. me and my friend live in the same building,so he was walking us home.i was holding to my friend and to him, but then he started holding my hand instead.he took my phone number,txt me good night and said 'you looked so good tonight'. since that time,i was txting him myself,he would reply every time,but didnt ask me out. once i txted him: we should hang out sometime. he said of course, we should.since that time nothing happens,he didnt ask me out.
