Computer Repair?

My laptop dosn't start. The only think it shows is a blinking light. Normaly that usualy means its battery is dead. It happens with my ac cord in, both batterys are charged, nothing happens.

I have Windows XP, and the laptop is an HP

Does Anyone know what is wrong with it

I had this happen to me. In my case, it was a faulty motherboard. Take it to a local repair shop and have them test it.

First make sure that the A.C. adaptor is working. You could be running the laptop on drained batteres. Easiest way is to see if there is any arcing/sparking when you put the ac cord into the mains supply.Alternatively you could try gettig a charged battery from some source and trying to turn the machinne on. If it does work you need to replace the mains adaptor.

The other reason the blinking lights show up is because it is in the sleep mode on standby.

Reboot the laptop and start tapping the F8 key as soon as you turn it on. See if you can get to the list for booting from Safe Mode / The last start up that worked / choice menu.

If that fails reboot again and tap the F1 key and check the BIOs to see if the hard drive is still being recognized.

Try taking off the batteries, then put it back... try turning it on, if it still doesn't work, take it to a computer shop...

Check to see if you hear the harddisk spin up at start.

If not, your harddisk needs replacing. Can't boot from a dead drive.

If it is working, check your motherboard. Thanks!
