How is to have/raise kids in South Africa?

Some countries like Canada and Australia have a very good incentive program for couples to have babies; I've heard that in Australia couples can get up to AUD4000 for each baby. Is there any incentive like this in South Africa?

Update:

ok. so I got a picture about the incentives. now how is to raise kids in SA? education, medical coverage, activities, sports, is it too expensive? etc.

Yes it is kind of expensive...

If you dont have the right paying job. I mean every parent wants the best for their child, so you're obviously going to want the best and secure schools, home environment, medical etc... I mean mine isn't born yet (i'm almost 3 months)...and it already starts with having the right kind of gynecologist, eating the right kind of food (I prefer Woolies and its good quality for the value). But I should think raising a child anywhere in the world isn't childs play... especially if you're a good parent wanting only the best your money can afford... But you know what? As long as you give that child enough love, actually abundant love... how you raise them will fall nicely into place even if you could or couldn't afford all that is material.

Nope, the birth rate in South Africa is already out of control.

There are many mouths to feed, and with the additional pressure of AIDS and corrupt ministerial departments that filter money from badly needed projects there is already a huge financial pressure on the country.

We´re not that lucky in S.A.

OK to answer your other questions:

It depends if you would want the same standards of education, health care and activities that you would find in Australia, New Zealand or Canada for example.

Over the last decade the quality of public services that you mention have reduced considerably in South Africa.

If you would like to give your children a better chance of meeting University or other post school Institution entrance requirements it would be a better idea to send your children to a private school.

In South Africa this is usually very expensive especially if the currency in which you are earning your salary is Rand.

The same applies for health care (although usually very reputable), and that does not come cheap either.

So basically you would pay a lot more to give your kids the same as they may receive free in other countries.

However the social environments of the other countries that we have mentioned are generally speaking a lot safer and healthier for mind and body.

Crime in South Africa is a serious problem, and when you consider the amount of criminal acts perpetrated on innocent children it puts a different perspective on things.

I dont think anyone in full control of their faculties and with a choice in the matter would chose to raise a child in South Africa. More than 24,000 children were raped or sodomised in South Africa last year using the ANC stats which everyone knows are way understated. Education is not very good with overcrowded classes and standards being lowered to such an extent that qualifications are no longer Internationally recognised. There are also numerous disciplinary problems in schools with pupils carrying guns and knives and in some cases murdering fellow pupils. They also have huge drug problems in schools. It is actually difficult to be accurate on the problems as the ANC have pretty much muzzled the Media.Medical Cover is expensive and for a family of 4 you can expect to pay around $400-450 per month for a comprehensive Plan. Public Hospitals are not an alternative and are more fit for animals than Humans. However, security for your child is the major problem and one that should over ride all other considerations.

sturdy I vote Republican besides the undeniable fact that i'm not in opposition to sax intercourse marriage; in spite of the actuality that, I do have an opinion on the section. Marriage is a non secular training and not a criminal perfect. there's no language everywhere in the form which specially provides the federal or state governments the authority to declare who can and can't get married. States do situation licenses however the significant rationale for it somewhat is to grant the married couples some criminal information that they willingly entered right into a binding contract with one one extra. There are diverse motives besides the undeniable fact that it extremely is the fundamental one i assume. this is completely valid to set a minimum age for marriage; besides the undeniable fact that, it extremely is so far because of fact the authority of marriage regulation will could desire to flow. There are constitutional regulations which decrease discrimination of the muse of gender and in some states sexual orientation. there is likewise the separation of church and state to undergo in suggestions. the only authority for marriage regulation is in the clergy and non secular doctrine. The state or federal governments have no authority to intervene in this. That been stated, the church does not very own the be conscious marriage and any ceremony performed by using a state real is largely as binding as a ceremony performed by using clergy. regardless of if or not you call it marriage or a civil union the outcomes is the equivalent, 2 persons getting into perfect right into a binding contract with each and every diverse. The objection to same intercourse marriages is a non secular objection and not a approved objection. One could argue the objection on a ethical foundation besides the undeniable fact which you at the instant are not waiting to legislate morality and different than that ones ethical foundation comes frequently from faith/non secular doctrine. So regardless of which way you spin it there's no approved foundation wherein same intercourse marriage is often made unlawful. they could be waiting to call it a civil union in the event that they choose to besides the undeniable fact that a tree by potential of yet another call continues to be basically a tree.

If you are stable - job, roof over your head - raising a child in SA is like raising a child in any country. Problem however - like any other country- is that not everyone has got a job, or one that pays well or stable. Truth is that the unemployment rate is rediculously high, and so for people without jobs this is difficult especially when they have children as our goverment child support grant is not enough to help with the needs of raising children. These are some of the challenges we have in the country. High unemployment rate, high birth rate (especially among people who are below the poverty line) and yes poverty.

  • I Agree with Alf....

No way safe in South Africa....Here the Kids are the

main target for murder and Rape....

Any age from 3 months old upwards is a potential target ...

for rape , kidnapping and murder...

    Fresh off the Press:

'Our children are living behind bars and security gates'

The mothers, members of the anti-child crimes group called Pink Ladies, are determined to make their voices heard at the protest when they kick off their nationwide campaign.

The group, whose logo is "Children should be seen and not hurt", was launched to assist children who have been abused, kidnapped or abducted and the families of the defenceless.
