Yes. It can be composted by puting in a pit or better can be supplemented in a vercomposting unit to enrich the compost. Burning not only pollute the environment but also we loose rich nutrient (except potassium) and organic carbon.

100% correct. dry leaves & left over spoilt food make a good compost & enriches the soil. if everybody follows this. there will not be much garbage left. & there will not be any waste.& our soil will become rich.

we were doing a lot of things without knowing the repercussions of that act of ours. we did it because we had seen our elders do it. but now with the environment being threatened, we all need to do our bit to save our planet. lot of studies are being conducted & we are learning new things & new ways to save & conserve. now that we know the benefits of gathering leaves & composting we have stopped burning them.
