The size of the "seed" has little to do with the size of the yield. That is, unless it was a dwarf potato to begin with.

When I was growing up, my dad used to cut the potatoes before he planted them. All that was required was one "eye" to sprout and flourish.

What you need is sunshine, water, and a little weeding. As the tubers grow, hill some dirt over them, and dig up in the fall before your first freeze.

Ideal size for a seed potatoe is the size of an egg, with good healthy shoots, as you potatoe breaks through the ground, keep hoeing up the soil to cover the plant. If you want to really try give it a bit of feed (general purpose fertilser ) If we get a dry spell water it, you then wait ultil it has finished flowering. They do come as iether early, or late variaties, Isuppose your was just a spud Now is an ideal time to sow

of course. if the potato has 4 or 5 sprout areas on it ,you could cut it in half.. plant a few. when it grows up a ways, hill it,, by that i mean, pull some more dirt up around the plant. enjoy. or should i say===potatoe

Yes you may get potatoes..You can also cube them and plant then with the sprout on top of the ground or is it the sprout down in the ground?

Yes you should. My stepdad, for a laugh, planted a bit of potato skin with an eye and that grew and he got potatoes from it.

yes you will. If your area has passed the danger of frost or freezing..plant right away. You can ever halve or quarter it and have several producing plants. By fall you'll have full grown potatoes ready to harvest.

You will get spuds from it, if it is from a shop the results will be poor as shop spuds are sprayed to stop them sprouting. If it is a leftover from some you have grown or someone else has grown then it will work well.

It is possible to get some good-sized potatoes from your 'seed'.

    Enjoy!
