Voting for your own answer?
Ethics aside, can you vote for your own answer?
I've never asked a question before, so bear with me.
I've noticed that sometimes I've been the only person who answers a question. In that case, does it make sense to vote for myself? Why would the answer go to voting if there is only one answer? Can't the person who asks the question accept that answer and resolve the question, or does it just go to voting after a certain timeframe if the person who asks hasn't selected an answer?
I've also seen questions out there in voting with no answers at all!

Well, the voting is called for all questions without answers decided by the asker. If only one person answers a question, people can vote for their answer or "No Best Answer." If No Best Answer is selected in the end, the asker gets back their points. You can technciacally vote for your own answer, getting you 1-11 more points depending on the final results.

Ethics aside, once the question goes into unresolved status, you may vote for your own answer.
And did you know that yo can give youself a star on your question as well?

I don't see a problem with it. If someone posts a question, and you answer it, and they are too lazy to pick a best answer, I am certainly going to vote for myself (unless there is a better answer, of course). I'm not going to let it go to 'no best answer' when I know my answer is good!

you MOST CERTAINLY CAN! why would it go to voting if only one answer-because a No Best Answer can be chosen. if they don't want to accept it, they'll let the community decide on a Best Answer. if they don't answer it within an amount of time, it'll go to the community to vote.

Yes, you can vote for yourself. I came across an answer of mine in Voting and voted for myself. I was expecting a little message that said "You cannot vote for your own answer", but to my surprise, it let me! I felt kinda bad, though (I didn't get best answer, though - karma has a way of evening things out).

You can, and it is allowed, for you to vote for your own answer.
If there is only one answer, yours, and no one votes, it stays in limbo forever and I hate that
