Among so many possible religions, why does Christianity draw so much hostility?

Who officially or publically objects at Christmas time to Hanukkah, or has a problem with new age crystals, or seances, and so on.

I think it says something FOR the Christian faith. Christians were slaughtered in the Roman Collesium... Christianity has been under persecution since it started... except for during the Middle Ages. People get offended when someone says the name Jesus... unless its being used as a curse, which is when they laugh. Why would people get offended by my saying the name Jesus? In Canada, they tried to pass a law that said that the Bible had to be rid of the name God. What's up with that? No one gets offended when I say Allah, though its God in the Middle East. No one get offended by my saying Mohammad, but if I say Jesus, its offensive. What is it about that name that offends so many people? They can not stand the name, because it reminds them of how they are guilty of something that they were hoping to ignore for their entire lives.

I'll be honest. I have a problem with all religions that espouse pseudo-science, prey on the masses, unduly restrict human nature, and discourage scientific and intellectual inquiry. Aside from that, I'm indifferent and even tolerant of most faiths.

I'm particularly critical of the contemporary Christianity in the United States because it is the belief system that I am most familiar with. Furthermore, it may threaten my freedom to practice my non-belief. Some Christians want to introduce intelligent design into schools, laws that protect pharmacies which refuse to supply contraception, or mandates to prevent gay/lesbian couples from being able to secure the same rights as straight individuals (I do not necessarily mean marriage- I mean laws that prevent homosexuals from adopting or having joint wills, for instance).

Most disturbingly, I reject the efforts of some Christians to redefine the U.S. government as Christian nation founded on Biblical law (conservatives like Limbaugh explicitly deny the term "theocracy," but the effect is much the same).

But I'll give you credit: If I lived in an Islamic nation, I would certainly have more to critique about Islam, provided they didn't slaughter me first. Fundamentalist Islam, in comparison to Christianity, is a significant force of sexism, discrimination, and violence in the world today. If I even had a voice, then I might be too afraid to use it. The fact that I can be an atheist in the United States without getting shot is one testament to the degree that Christians have begun to move in tolerating those of other beliefs. But they still have a heck of a long way to go, and I'll critique them until they get there.

So I think my views toward religion are partly a matter of perspective and environment. I'm equally critical of new age thinkers and alternative medicine, though they comprise a smaller proportion of the U.S. population. I'm equally ready to debate with a Scientologist as I am a Fundamentalist Protestant.

I've tried to be honest to give you my perspective on these things. I hope that it helps you to understand my view, because I'm sure that we are very different, and it's always beneficial to share opposing views.

    Here's some facts about christianity:

hell was created by christians - so shall they go there!

christians have persecuted millions of "non-believers" just because they DIDN'T believe in "christianity!

christians are by far the most brain-washed - brain-dead believers in the world today!

    Here's the Solution:

"religion is Spiritual fraud"; "religion is the Worse invention of humanity" - Jesus Christ

Create a private, personal, direct, divine relationship with Our Creator and save your Soul from religion.

Only with Our Creator's Love and Peace will we be Truely Free!

Without God, there is No Love; Without religion, there are No Wars!

I'm a Christian, but I think part of the problem is that we have all of these politicians and public figures getting up and proclaiming their faith. Then, they turn around and lie, cheat, steal, embezzle, kill, declare wars, etc. I never supported Newt Gingrich, but he announded today that he was in the middle of a long affair during the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal. He justified his pitbull attack on Clinton by saying it was different because Clinton committed a felony by lying under oath. Then he went on to say that he prayed for Clinton. Come on! I truly wish politicians would stop parading my Jesus around as their trump card!

Why indeed.People seem to (PC) accept any belief and sinful lifestyle.People can't accept the simple truth of Jesus shedding His blood on the cross, buried, and on the third day rose again (for sin). All a person has to do is accept Jesus' payment for sin on the cross and they will be free from the debt of sin and death.have eternal life.

Because in our society, most people are Christians, so you have the greatest opportunity to make a55es of yourselves - which you DO tend to exploit to the fullest.

Stop trying to hobble the public school system with Young Earth and Intelligent Design, and stop insinuating yourselves into the private lives of gay people, and stop trying to check the progress of science because you're afraid that your antiquated mythologies might be exposed for what they are - just for starters - and then we can talk.

Christianity has made strong claims to being universal, true and applicable for all. They claim that failure to believe automatically condemns a person to eternal suffering.

This is not that typical of other religions (Islam is another one.) So Christianity gets more heat than Hinduism.

    Christians want:.

    1. We want the government to stop taxing us to death as they take our money for abortion something we don't believe it. We see it as 47 million unnecessary deaths.

    2. We want others to leave our children alone in the schools because we believe we are their teachers of morals and we don't think they have the right to give our children pills or take them for an abortion..

    3. We fund Catholics and Christian schools and we have to double our burden by paying high property tax for the public schools. We don't even get a tax credit.

    4. When we pay $$ to send our children to college, we want the teachers to teach basics and some moral agenda.
