  • Help! Loading photos onto an mp3?

I'm giving an mp3 to my Dad as a gift. I'm going to load a bunch of music on it for him. I also want to put in some family pictures -- old and recent. Can I scan the old pictures onto my pc and download them or do I need to go to a store and have them put onto a disk first? What stores do that and how long does it generally take? (I'm not the most tech savvy, so I really should have started this sooner!)

  • Sleepover parties for kids?

My 9 year old was just invited to a sleepover. We are not letting her go because I think she's simply too young to be at a friend's house overnight. It's not a maturity issue, but rather a safety issue--nice enough people, but still! I know everyone has their own ideas about this. What do you think is a good age in today's world for kids to start sleepovers with friends?

  • Which chain store is best for oil changes?

I'm getting my oil changed and will likely be going to one of the chain stores for convenience. Any opinions on which is best....Pep Boys, Sears, Jiffy Lube, Firestone and Mr. Tire are the choices that come to mind in my area. And I mean best in terms of cost, reliability, honesty and job performance. I know it's just an oil change, but some places try to take advantage more than others.

  • What is that hard plastic lining in the tire area?

It goes around the upper area where the tires are located. I'm guessing it protects that area just past the tire (under the hood) and helps with wind and noise. A piece of mine broke off and I'm trying to buy it online to replace it only I don't know what it's called.

  • McCain votes to slice education budget and Palin scams expenses?

More lies are being revealed and it's now clear that these two are not the mavericks they claim to be. Have you heard? McCain votes down much needed education dollars and Palin charges the taxpayers of Alaska for days she slept in her own home (read the entire article). And there is more. Such search the major news organizations. There are tons of lies and misrepresentations. Are Republicans so desperate that they have to blatantly lie?

  • What to do with a crazy dog?

My friend has a beautiful little schnauzer 6 month old pup. He's very friendly, etc, but he has a few problems. 1)He eats paper...toilet paper, paper towels, computer paper, mail, newspaper, wrapping paper, folders, books...you get the idea. 2)When you come in the house he attacks you (but not really causing any pain)! He jumps all over you and nips at your legs, pants, skirt, etc. It's like he's possessed? It's so bad that she has to cage him.

This is a good friend and I love her dearly, but I'm starting to avoid her house. My kids even call the dog crazy. It's bad!

Any recommendations that I can give her short of taking him to obdience school? I keep telling her that I'm going to call Ceasar Milan :)

  • What say you about the "bitter" controversy?

I agree with Sen. Obama, and yes, I cling to my family, faith and simple pleasures in life in these trying times. I'm not in rural America, but I'm still bitter about what's happend to this country in the past 8 years - i.e. record nat. deficit, senseless war costing $4B/week and 4K lives and counting, war funding from our "friends" the Chinese gov., environmental devastation, the housing crisis, the oil crisis, INFLATION, etc.

I don't think there is any cause for apology. We have good reason to be bitter.

    What say you?

  • Does anybody really care about Ferraro's or Wright's comments?

I could really care less about what Gerry Ferraro (Hillary's camp) or Jeremiah Wright (Obama's camp) have to say. I care about what the candidates have to say and solutions they have. All of this nonsense is clouding the real issues - our economy, the war, education, the housing debacle, etc. Is it just me?

BTW: Did anybody buy gas this morning? $3.22 a gallon! That's my concern!

  • What is marmite?

For those of us on the other side of the ocean...what is marmite? How is it eaten, i.e., with crackers, bread, alone, etc. I hear talk of it, but have no idea what it is. Americans (or those in the know), is it readily available in the US?

  • Kitten doesn't like kitten food?

First time cat owner...I just adopted a two-month old kitten from the shelter. He is a beautiful kitty with a very affectionate personality. The problem is that he doesn't seem very interested in the kitten food. I started him off on the Purina One kitten formula, but after the first two days he didn't really eat any more of it for three more days. I got nervous, so I purchased some Iams kitten formula (thinking he just didn't like the Purina). He nibbled at it this morning, but didn't eat too much. I am hoping he eats more during the day and this evening. He is drinking, playing and seems healthy enough. Oh, and he smells food from my kitchen and is kind of begging for that. (haven't given any table food to him) Since he was a stray I am wondering if he is still unaccustomed to cat food (he was only in the shelter for a week). Is it normal for kittens to pick at their food? Or to get a taste of scraps (from being a stray) and only want that? Anything else I can do?

  • Inexpensive appetizers?

I'm having a small afternoon gathering to showcase some products I sell. I plan on having champagne (or wine) and appetizers as light refreshments. Any suggestions on inexpensive, but appealing, appetizers aside from cheese and crackers?

  • How roomy is the Toyota 2005 Corolla?

Considering either a 2005 Corolla, 2005 Camry or 2005 Altima. I'm considering the Corolla because of the great price, but I'm concerned about the interior roominess. I will often have 1 or 2 passengers in the rear. I'm thinking the Altima or Camry would be better, but I really like the affordability of the Corolla. Can anybody give me some insight into the inside comfort before I go visit the dealer?

  • Favorite hymns/songs?

What are your favorite hymns/songs? I experienced a tremendous bible study last night and I'm still filled with verses from Psalms, many of which are contained in songs we still sing today. Share as many as you'd like.

  • Cheap tippers?

Why are some people cheap tippers? I went to lunch yesterday with two other ladies and the bill came to $50. Their bill was clearly more than mine, but I ususally prefer to split the bill evenly. No big deal right? We each should have left $20. When I counted the cash it was $55 and that included the tip!! They really thought that was fine. Might I add that they had this young woman running back and forth a few times for water, extra dressing, etc. They really thought it was okay to leave her a 10% tip. I wound up leaving extra because I was so embarrassed by their "cheapness". They weren't bothered by it when I commented on it. I'll never eat out with them again, but I'm wondering why people are so cheap when it comes to tipping.

If anyone doesn't believe in the tipping system, please fill me in. I just don't get it.

PS: Neither of these ladies have money issues. We just finished doing some major shopping!

  • HB wants gastric bypass surgery?

My hb wants this surgery. If you look at the low end of his ideal weight, he's about 95 lbs overweight, however considering his body type, I'd say he's more likely about 75-80 lbs overweight. He has given up on correcting his eating habits & sedentary lifestyle and decided that his only recourse is surgery. He also has backaches, high blood pressure & a family history of cancer. He has badgerred his physician so much that he has referred him to a specialist for consideration for the surgery. He doesn't even want to lose weight now for fear he won't be a good candidate.

I am so upset and concerned about this major surgery. I think he can accomplish his weight loss through modifiying his diet and getting some excercise. I have told him that I can and will help him in both areas. I'm not overweight at all, so maybe I'm not as understanding as I could be, but I believe he could do this himself...without surgery.

Having a hard time supporting him on his solution. Any suggestions?

  • Irish cuisine?

I was in Ireland and ordered room service from the hotel. I had a tuna sandwich and raw veggies. They made the tuna salad w/kernals of corn. It actually wasn't bad. Is it the norm in Ireland to put corn kernals in tuna salad? BTW, the Irish hospitality was excellent!

If your kids are involved in one or both, what do you think of the organization and their activities? How much time is involved for your child and you? I'm considering it and looking for first-hand opinions. Thanks!

  • Awesome Word?

Who attended church (or other religious home) and heard an awesome word this weekend? Please share. Our message today was understanding that our battles belong to the Lord and we must learn that some battles can not be fought in the flesh.
