Royksopp-Remind me - GEICO version - what key is it in?
DO NOT USE THE ORIGINAL VERSION - use the Geico commercial one - they are in different keys!
The scale of the melody tells me the song is in either F or D minor (relative keys). The first note of the melody is A. The first note of the bass is D and I know from experience the starting bass note often, but not always, belies the key a piece is in. My know-it-all buddy says that's not correct and he's swearing, despite liberal use of flats/sharps in the chord structure, that the song is in the key of C, which generally avoids sharps and flats entirely. The only tab I found online gave the chord progression as F C Eb Bb (all major apparently). Those chords actually do seem to work but I don't think they're right - I would have tended more towards Dm, Am, Cmaj, Gmaj (bass following roots), with that last pair lending some possible support to a key of C, at least for that part. Maybe there's a key change and we're both right?

F C Eb Bb it is. Not clean majors, of course - try Fmaj7, C9 and so on, but you're right with that foundation. You['re both wrong, though, becaause you're dealing with a constant modulation from F to Eb and back.

Actually, I can't tell you. The Geico caveman doesn't remind me of a Liberal at all. He wants to do things for himself, and work at his living. Although he is hairy, his attitude reminds me of a Republican, work hard, and earn your living. Geico, the company, makes me think of a Liberal making fun of a Republican, to sell their product. Rather like the Liberal run Congress, who promises the end of the war in Iraq, but not really meaning it. I think we call them liars.
