Why does my perm keep falling out?

I have been perming my hair for over 20 years without problems. I recently had my hair permed (twice in 10 days). The perm starts falling out within hours. First time there may have been too much hair on the rods. The 2nd time I am not sure. The salon says it is my shampoo/conditioner. I am using Cliniderm (Free and Clear in US). This is the only thing that I can think of that has changed since my last perm two years ago.

These are the ingredients:

Shampoo: purified water, disodium cocamphodiacetate, disodium laureth sulfosuccinate, ammonium laureth sulfate, cocamidopropylamine oxide, citric acid, PEG-120 methyl glucose dioleate, PEG-12 dimethicone, tetrasodium EDTA, potassium sorbate

Conditioner: purified water, dicetyldimonium chloride, cetearyl alcohol, stearamidopropyl dimethylamine, propylene glycol, ceteareth-20, tocopheryl acetate (Vitamin E), panthenol, potassium sorbate and citric acid

Are there certain ingredients that people should look out for before perms?

when you get older...your hair changes as well as your body. your hair might be more poris than it was before. it could be the shampoo and conditioner you are using but i don't think that would affect it in a matter of hours. your hair may not be able to handle a perm anymore...ie...it won't take

The Shampoo And Conditioner You're Using Should Actually Be Helping You Keep Your Curl. By The Ingredients, They Are Quite Gentle And Yet Very Effective. So I Would Say Some Other Factor Is At Work, Possibly, a Change In Diet,Climate, Medications Or A Hormonal Or Glandular Change. You Say You've Been Perming For Sometime? - Is It Possible Your Hair Is "Over-Permed"? And Hasen't The Stuctural Strength Left To Hold A Good Curl? Your Hair May Also Need A Good "Clairifying" Treatment To Remove Minerals/Medications/Metals And Shampoo/Styling Product Residues. I Hope This Helps!

that's some harsh shampoo and conditioner.

is the same perm solution being used?

they've changed over the last 3 years A LOT. some ingredients are no longer being used due to cancer causing agents.

    could you be pregnant?

never get one right before or after your period.

    do you have well water?

have the same stylist? or does this stylist like doing perms? any good at giving perms. (i'm a hairstylist and HATE doing them. i'll give up the client before i do one. i don't need the money THAT badly).

i like ISO perms. they work great and smell great, too.

well what you're doing is adding chemicals to chemicals what you need to do is either get a good conditioner (like mayonaise no kidding and deep conditin your hair. Then use a clarifying shampoo that you can get at a reputable hair salon to get rid of some of the chemicals or you can not perm your hair for 6 months.
