What is the purpose of a heated throttle body on an engine?

I disconnected mine as many others with an LT1 have and have noticed no negative effects so far even at -30.

    It's just for smog. It won't make it run any worse if you disconnect it.

    You just might reside in an area where the humidity isn't high enough to cause serious icing problems at low temps.

    the throtel body desperses the air that comes into the engin.
