it might taste kinda funny since it has flavorings in it but yea, it will do the trick. i don't use bread crumbs, i crumble up crackers or sometimes plain potato chips, or a combination of the two. you could also take any type pf bread you have lying around the house, even if it's stail...like bagels or english muffins or hot dog buns, and break them apart and put that in the mix too. all kinds of things can act as a filler to replace bread crumbs in something like meatloaf or meatballs. yummm....now i want meatloaf! good luck, i hope it comes out well - and don't be afraid to try new, outrageous things in your fod. necessity is the mother fo invention and is how new great recipes are born! go discover something yummy!!!

Yes it is. Also crumbled up crackers.

Any crumbled bread or crackers, even cereal will do.

They make the meatloaf moist and soft. The more you add, the softer it will be.

If you don't have any bread crumbs in the future, don't worry about it. The meatloaf will just be more firm, like a big meatball.

Actually, I don't even add crumbs to mine anymore.

I think the meatloaf tastes better without them. The breadless kind also makes for better meatloaf sandwiches, in my opinion.

Yes, it will work but do not add any salt.

Also, Shake-n-Bake has a sticky quality so bake the meatloaf @ a lower temperature (325-350 degrees F). Watch it closely so it doesn't scorch.

The alternatives provided by the others are good ones and are preferable to Shake-n-Bake.

I'm not sure about shake-n-bake, but bread crumbs basically help hold the meatloaf together. So you can use crackers, bread, corn flakes,or even oats. If I don't have bread crumbs on hand I usually use crackers.Hope I could help.

My husband and I are low carb eaters, and I skip the breadcrumbs all together. Instead, I put a few slices of bread underneath the loaf in the pan and that absorbs the grease and fat that are cooked off of the meatloaf.

Sorry...don't know about Shake-n-Bake...but, if you have Quaker Oats (the old-fashioned kind, definitely, and maybe even the instant, as long as they're not flavored), you can use that as the filler. Another option....coarsely ground-up crackers, if you have them. Good luck!

Go ahead if its bread crumb based ONLY, but its salty so leave out any salt you planned to put in
