What's the story with this new friends and fans?

Basically, it's a way to track activity of people whose questions and answers you like or are interested in. If you add someone, you become that person's "Fan" -- you can get to your Fans and Contacts from your Profile page.

so you can see if you are a fan when they have posted or stared a question !!!! if your a friend they can see yours

It just means they like your answers or questions... I don't believe you have to add them...could be wrong though, wouldn't be the first time...

if you like someones qs you can make them your contact,means you know what they are asking,answering...

well yahoo had to come up with something for our entertainment!

you will get a ton of weirdo's lol just be carefull who you add .
