Why are dolls and clowns so scary?

I have never had a problem with dolls but clown's ....heh don't get me started ... they are creepy with thier painted smiles.

Movies only compounded my fears. When I was a little girl 6 yrs old my older brother gave me this clown as a birthday present, I would never play with it because it scared me. My mom told me I was being silly and put the clown in the attic. When my brother found it up there he being a nice big brother he brought it back to my room I cried for what seemed like forever to a 6 yr old. My dad told my brother that the thought was nice but that the clown had to go. My brother felt so bad that he took the clown back to the store and got me a huge teddy bear. I can still hear the damn thing laugh it had one of those pull strings that had this freaky laugh.

Still have no clue as to why they scare me and I haven't passed along the fear to my son's cause they love clowns.

Sometimes people can assocaite an object with a memory and a fear can develop from it there by causing and innate fear of said object. :) hope that helps

They like being scary..thats why we have clowns and dolls.

kkkkkkkkkkkkk I thought that only I think in this way. I have panic with dolls. Try to look into her eyes, specially dolls with blue eyes, it's so scared. And Clowns with this fake laughings?

Know what's even creepier? A doll with it's face painted like a clown. SPOOKY!

I DON'T KNOW BUT I'M AFRAID OF CLOWNS. THEY'RE SO CREEPY LOOKING. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MOVIES BECAUSE I'VE ALWAYS BEEN THIS WAY, AND I DIDN'T SEE A SCARY CLOWN MOVIE TILL JUST A COUPLE YEARS AGO...MAYBE IT'S BECAUSE OF ALL THE MAKEUP--THEY DON'T LOOK NATURAL. BUT THEN AGAIN, I WAS NEVER AFRAID OF TAMMY FAY BAKER. WHATEVER THE REASON, MY SON IS AFRAID OF THEM, TOO. AND HE'S NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE "IT."
