Should we keep the illegal aliens or send them packing?

A great argument for keeping them is that they do jobs that no American wants to do. This is not true they do work that Americans don't want to do at nothing wages. Example; a cabinet maker in New England makes about $35.00 an hour, and south Texas he makes $8.50 an hour making it a job that no American can afford to do. I have no problem with legal aliens as they have to compete at the same level as all other Americans. I am married to a foreign national, and so is one of my sons. Do not confuse one with the other.

Update:

Whether the illegal alien is or is not getting any social services he forces an American Family to get those services if the American goes to work for a very substantial wage. Mr. Bush has said that, "That they only do work that NO AMERICAN will do." Maybe not in his neighborhood but I know a lot of Americans born and brought up in the USA that work the fields every year, I delivered mail to them for 20 years. Please understand that this is much more insidious than any of us have been told and is really far reaching. A contractor builds a house and sells the house for a fair price. Another contractor builds a house right next door and they are just the same but one is using WET LABOR, they sell the houses for the same amount the one using wet labor is making an extra 60% on labor costs and now his buddy is going to do the same thing he wants some of that easy money too.

Update 2:

substandial = sub-standard

We should send illegal aliens packing, for reasons articulated by both the askert and first answerer. In addition, I think it would be helpful for employers to be properly educated on what forms are legitimate. The list is enormous and contradictory. I have been denied employment through employers (not always small employers) being confused as to my immigration status and not being willing to take a chance. In fact, a certain employment agency pretty much told me I was illegal and refused to speak to my immigration attorney. If companies like that have difficulty with the paperwork, what must it be like for the small employer?

The improved education should then be followed up with compliance visits. Enforce civil penalties against both employer and employee - the problem lies with both, not just the illegal. We need to stop making it worthwhile for employers to employ illegals. I know the laws are on the books. Our government just seems to be rather unconcerned with enforcing them.

I refuse to accept that businesses cannot afford Americans. Wages have gone up by about half the rise in productivity since the end of WWII. American workers have not become more expensive. American business has just become more greedy. If the larger businesses would stop trying to squeeze so much money out of the small businesses who need to buy their goods and services, there would be less need to use illegals. If illegals find less work available, they will be less inclined to come here. If less come here, the money that gets shipped out of the country courtesy of Bank of America and its cohorts would stay here. That is money that will be spent in the US economy. More money in the economy means higher living standards for those who are prepared to work for it. Workers gain, obviously. In the long run, business gains because money stays in the economy. Because both gain, the treasury gains through increased tax receipts. Why is this such a difficult concept for people to understand?

No, that is a really stupid argument.

If a cabinet maker in New England makes $35.00, the question is WHY does he only make 8.50 an hour in Texas? Obviously, Americans are willing to do the work, they just don't want to do it for 8.50 an hour. Query whether the worker at 8.50 an hour is making taxpayers subsidize the low wage through social services to his famiily?

Legal immigrants are not the issue, I agree.

No, they should absolutely not be able to stay. I don't care if they have been here 20 minutes or 20 years. Illegal means illegal. I have no sympathy for someone who has just been able to out smart the system. I also think they should be made to pay all of the taxes they dodged by being illegal, as well as, all of the public benefits they received. If the illegals aren't here to do those low paying jobs, then the employers will be forced to raise the wage for decent Americans.

Considering all the facts - YES - illegals need to be repatriated with their own country as soon as possible.

You added a comment about Bush saying something about 'the illegals only doing work that Americans won't do'? TRUST ME ON THIS ONE! The man KNOWS that such is a lie! The man has a ranch in TEXAS for God's sake and the illegal problem here and the result of it is something heard nightly on the evening news.

I am from Texas and believe me the illegal aliens in that area everywhere. I think they should all be packed up and deported. They gripe and complain about things that they don't get or are not entitled to, they don't get them because they are ILLEGAL. Yes they do jobs that Americans don't want to do for little to no compensation. In today's economy families (say a family of four) can't live on say 8.50 an hour, not barely above the poverty line anyway. The illegals, live in groups of 10+ where I come from, and draw welfare on top of their 2+ below minimum wage jobs. Many live on large ranch's where their living arrangements are provided for. In Houston last year, 95% of the births in one particular hospital where to illegal immigrants. Well, that kid is a US citizen and the mom and dad can stay, draw unemployment and welfare and get special deals in public schools for their kids, when legal immigrants and natural born citizens don't qualify. And who paid for all these medical bills for these births, we did. It has too stop, these liberal weenies, need to ball up and say enough burden on OUR economy. I realize we are all decedents of immigrants, but laws were put in place to protect the welfare and economy of our society and country, not to say they are not good enough to be here, there are ways to become legal citizens. I am off my soap box now.

We must deport the majority of the illegal aliens who have invaded this country. They have no loyalty to our country and many of them are taking jobs away from Americans. The poor immigrant is a net loss to this country as they use tens of billions of dollars of social services every year. Medicaid, welfare for their "anchor babies", food stamps, $10,000 per child school explenditures, earned income tax credit, emergency medical care, housing assistance and more!

We would save tens of billions of dollars a year by building a stout fence on the Mexican border and by eliminating the incentives that these invaders have for entering this country. No more credit cards, drivers licenses, or social services for illegal aliens. Read this article for more info - http://www.newswithviews.com/baldwin/baldwin349.ht...

What we need to do is hold the employers just as accountible instead of putting all the blame on the immigrants, because without work they'd have very leittle incentive to keep coming here.

The problem with illegal aliens is not that they disrupt the economy (they actually contribute to the economy in a vital way). Our problem is that we give them free stuff–free fire protection, free roads, free health care, free money! And WE pay for it. If our government stopped giving handouts, illegal immigrants could go their own way without bothering anyone.

I think we should let the immigrants stay, because they increase the overall wealth of the economy. More importantly, we should stop giving them things for free.

I think anyone who is illegal or have tried to use illegal/false means to gain residency such as marriage fraud or fake assylim documents, etc... They should be deported & refused entry for at least 10 years.
