Why is it that if there is an exumation of a grave it is alway done at dawn?

Not always, but a good time, as is light enough to see what you're doing, and early enough to not have the public watching...

It started as a superstition, If you did it before day break demons could take over the body,s And you could not do it in the after noon fore fear of people, with morbid curiosity. Now I think I t is just standard do know they only exhume during the day light now a day

To facilitate the passing of the soul into the new dawn that awaits...

Actually, it will be a lot more boring and practical than that, but I just felt like being 'poetic'. :-)

Exhumations take place early in the morning before the cemetery is open. This is for the sake of decency and also health and safety.

Basically, it's for maximum privacy.

But it's not always done at dawn.

It can be done at anytime fo the day, in daylight hours.

So that they have the maximum amount of daylight time to get the body back in the ground before nightfall.

i think it is done so as many people don't see as possible if it was done at night they would need big lamps to see what they where doing so in the am is probably a good time.

I think it's because, they are scared of the midnight witching hour.

Who knows what kind of demons will come up with it if they start digging then.

They have to play it safe, you know.

Maybe the morning light scares the spirits away!

It's a privacy thing. If you did it in the middle of the day you would have everyone and their aunty hanging about.
