People new to Heelys?

I see these little kids with Heelys and they only wear them as regular shoes, they can barely roll, and the ones with the grind plate don't even know what the plate is for. In know that it may take time to get used to but these kids think their sooo cool with Heelys.

Who has seen this and thinks it's stupid?

Isn't just a waste of $50 or more?

I bought my son Heely's for his birthday, and he thought it would be super easy.

He bragged about the fact that he could be great the first time out.

He is 5, a natural athlete already sporting an 8 pack.

So he needed to learn some how.

They are a solid shoe, regardless if he can use the wheels or not.

I do not buy my children athletic shoes for gimmick sake, I buy them for support and function.

As for the lady concerned about head injury.

I do not let my son wear them unsupervised or without a helmet and protective gear. Problem solved.

$50 dollars is a small investment for some and if my son did not like to roll atleast he gets a neat pair of shoes out of the deal.

Talk to parents who spend hundreds and even thousands on musical instruments, bicycles, snowboards and gear only to see them sit in the garage.

Do not be so critical of young kids. They have to learn somehow. If looking cool is a way for them to be part of the culture , who is hurt by it.

Think about when you were a kid, chances it was not so long ago and your obsession with boy bands or the spice girls.

Not so cool anymore are they?

    Who was harmed by that?

Let the kids have their fun and mom and dad do the research , get the right gear and help your children master a new skill with confidence. It is good for their soul.
