if you want to keep the tunes in your computer, but want them out of your iPod, then just 'uncheck' the little box next to the tune and that'll do it for you. the song will still be on your hard drive, but it won't transfer to the iPod - or it'll be removed from it if it's already on there.
BUT -
if you just want to get rid of the tune altogether (from the iPod and the comp), just highlight it and hit "delete" on your computer keyboard. depending on your version of iTunes, it's going to ask if you want to delete completely (and send it to the recycle bin). hit 'move to recycle bin' and it's gone!

(come on over, if you feel the urge!) :)
EDIT - in response to star - YOU DO have that option. it's a step after you hit delete. if it doesn't work that way, check your settings OR just go to the hard drive directly and delete the tune from THERE. then, delete it from iTunes. (you too, can feel free to hit me up with any questions!)

once you're at itunes window on the left part there's a little pic of an ipod..just click there and it would show you the list of the songs you have on your ipod. Select a song. Once you have selected the song just do right click with your mouse and select "delet" and thats it! Pretty simple!

By now you know how to delete them. According to Apple you violate copyrights by deleteing songs. The harding thing to do is to transfer the songs from one ipod to another. There is third party s/w out there to that. My original 40gb ipod has the click of death. hard-drive is going bad.

if you use itunes to put music onto your ipod, there should be a box to check next all of the songs, what I do is uncheck all the boxes next to the songs that I do not want. Then re-sync the ipod. Thay way you can keep the songs in itunes, but not have them on your ipod.

If you are using I-Tunes you can uncheck them when you sync your i-pod. (or delete them from your library)
Personally i liked the older version of i-tunes where i could actually right click and delete but you no longer have this option

you mustn't have deleted them out of your library. What you do is delete them from you ipod touch out of your itunes. all the songs on your ipod touch would be under your ipod touch image on the edge of your itunes. all your song would be under the song area of your ipod. merely bypass in there and delete those you do in comparison to
