BMW Drivers???

Why are BMWs driven by idiots. I'm not jealous. Really. I have a beautiful girlfriend, great ride, lovely apartment, good job, enough money, before you say it's an aspirational thing. But every time i see a Beemer it's being driven by an idiot. Lights on full beam, never indicates, too fast, gunning the engine, too close, wrong lane, fog lights permanently on, not stopping at crossings or red lights. I've lived in 3 countries and can safely say this is true in all of them. Defend yourselves, BMW drivers!!!!!!

Update:

"Manors", I guess Beemer drivers can't spell either! And what do vending machines have to do with it. Drivers are Human Beings and as such are accountable for their actions.

Update 2:

Ok, here's something. I ride a motorcycle, a fast one. So...obviously i'm not afraid of the "speed" of a BMW cos my bike could kill any beemer from the lights. I ride safe, so can spot a bad driver a hundred miles away. Does that effect your answer?

I'm sick of this question. There are two kinds of BMW drivers in the world, the ones that know what they are driving and the ones that do not know what they are driving. Have you ever looked in the manual of a BMW? Did you know that it point-blank advocates “aspirated driving?”

People think that BMW drivers are overcompensating or trying to show off. I have been driving a BMW since I was 16 years old, I worked for 3 consecutive summers to purchase my first E36 325i, it’s not because I’m a snob or have this desire for a fast car, its because I believe that there is something seriously wrong with the current Automotive Industry and that BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Porsche, Lexus have figured out how to field the best product for the best value. That’s why I drive a BMW. I know that I fit into the group of people that are aware of what they are driving.

BMWs and all the cars mentioned above are supposed to be driven fast. There is really simple logic. First, the compression ratio is very, very high, which means that the car likes to be in high RPM ranges. BMWs get the most torque at 4500 RPMs or more, this means that the car would rather go fast than keep it restrained.

BMWs advocate a certain style of driving that Americans would do better to learn. For example, anytime I get on the highway or even regular driving, I turn on my lights, unless it is really bright out. Its Driver’s Education 101, keep your lights on to see and be seen. On the highway it should be a law, and in many states it is. Freeway driving should be stricter, if you are not going at a fast rate of speed than you should be in the right lane, that’s just a fact. When you are overtaking, you move into the left lane and if there is anyone going too slow in the left, you flash your brights, just like in Europe and you inform them that they should move into the right. Cars should not fool around in the high-speed lane, when you move into the left, overtake and get back into the right, then do it again.

If people would learn how to put themselves in the proper lane, then BMWs and other cars with ample power wouldn’t have to overtake on the right. People think that any lane is good enough to go whatever speed they want, this isn’t proper or right. Give way to the faster car.

As for the light argument. Most modern BMWs 2001+ have automatic lights installed for safety, you can turn them off, but they are light sensing so they turn on when the lighting conditions are darker or lower-light. In reality, if the car is turning the lights on because of Low-Light, they should be on. “Lights on full beam” is a stupid statement. BMWs have vastly more powerful headlights than most American and Japanese cars, Mercedes and Audi both use the new Bi-Xenon (so does BMW after 2004) so they appear brighter. Its not that they are on full-beam, they are just made by PIAA or Hella which nobody can dispute are the best light manufacturers in the Auto Industry.

It is my experience that BMW drivers can be very aware and alert, but like so many drivers, they can be bad too. The major problem that I encounter where I live is typically drivers of Impalas (Chevrolet) the cars exceed the size of most BMWs and seem to have a disregard for most common sense rules. I would also say that my driving BMWs have made me a better driver than when I drove an SUV.

I think this is because BMWs are driver’s cars. Everything is ergonomic and intuitive, as cars should be. The lines of sight are fantastic and the simple fact is that BMWs represent form following function. I am a very finicky driver and I am very selective on the cars that I purchase.

BMWs are usually associated with stupid wealth or overcompensating individuals. For me and of those who drive BMWs, this is not always the case. I worked very hard to achieve my BMW and the other cars that I own; I drive them because I like them, their performance, their looks and most importantly, the handling.

One cannot make the generalization that any one type of car is a bad driver. It isn’t the car that makes the driver bad, it’s the driver and the style of driving. Where I live, the speed limit on the highway is 70 mph, but people drive an average of 86 mph. I know, because I own a radar gun. There is nothing wrong with driving fast, it’s about driving plugged in. For me, BMW drivers seem to be pretty plugged in, but I cannot draw conjectures about others.

8 out of 10 beemers are jerks when i drive - speeding, cutting road , overtaking me on crossroad etc. So crazy and unbelievable things I have seen and 90% it's from BMW drivers sure other cars to but not so much as BMW but that is good cause I know that I must be careful when I am near BMW.

You need to show some more respect buddy, :-) I happen to drive a Beemer and I can't argue with the fast, gunning, and being too close, but the fog lights being permanently on and the wrong lane part. We only go in the wrong lane when passing a slow driver like you. Of course, it must cause people to slow down when they see your girlfriend. I am just messing around bro. But ease up on us a little bit, who knows you may be driving BMW someday. BTW: This is a great question and I am 100% serious.

I can guarantee my beemers a better ride than your girl,

i had one but never seen a z4 been driven by an idiot, I had the 318i before that and I can understand why the younger people go mad in them I wish I could of afforded one in my youth, you can not gun a mini van or a transit van, ive had all types of cars i used to buy and sell in my spare time, but the beemers are special, idiots or not its the car drives you mad, are you a ford focus man? then you have no Idea of what its like to own a beemer. I now live in Egypt the one thing I miss is my beener, see the red lights are not used here iether.

First of all, when asking a question you're actually serious about, try to be a little more professional and a lot less childish...no need for name calling and insults. Secondly you cant generalize that all BMW drivers are "idiots", when in fact we all know that couldn't be further from the truth. Honestly i've seen worse driving done in VWs, Lexus, and Hondas.

As far as driving fast, i will admit i drive with a heavy foot at times, but because the BMW gives such a smooth easy ride, i never really realize how fast i'm going until i look at the speedometer. And the lights, well those stay on all the time because i cant turn them off, i wish i could... thats the only thing i hate about the car.

Gunning the engine? yeah ok umm i've never heard a BMW do that around here, maybe only where you are...most people who drive one dont do that, they already know their ride is sweet, they dont need to prove anything.

oh here's a hint, if a car is driving too close it means you're driving too slow!

Honestly, i think you're just letting off some steam and us BMW drivers are getting the short end of the stick. The reason you spot out bmws driving poorly is because they are gorgeous sports cars and there are a lot of them on the road. Either that or you're one of those people who drive like 50mph in the fast lane all close to the steering wheel with a bunch of bobbleheaded toys in your back window.

THE ONLY THING I KNOW ABOUT BMW DRIVERS IS THAT THEY ALWAYS LOOK LIKE THEY'RE TRYING REALLY HARD TO CATCH UP TO ME IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR BUT CANT.

They look like they think they're fast. But they're not. Out of all the cars on the road I'd say they're quick but not fast. Probably faster than the average everyday slow car but not super fast or fast. My car does 0-60 in 3.5 secs. They look like they do 0-60 in about 6 or 7 to me in my car. At the fastest late 5's. That's not fast just an average quick car. There's other cars a lot faster than BMW's that stay in my rear view mirror a little longer before they end up totally out of view than all BMW's.

Coming from someone who drives a supercar your average BMW driver is a race car wanna be but driving your simple family car sedan that's just not as slow as your average slow family car.

Hmm... Well, I drive a BMW, but I drive better now, than I did with my first few cars, which weren't BMW's. I used to drive like a maniac, but I've grown and learned not to be an asshole. Anyways, the point is, I was driving like an idiot in cars that weren't beamers, so I'm sure there are idiots in every car. Also, I have seen many BMW's on the road with sound drivers behind the wheel. I don't know what you mean about the High beams... In my opinion, it seems like everyone who drives an SUV can't keep their high beams off. Oh, and I ALWAYS indicate, in fact that's a pet peeve of mine. I can't stand drivers who don't indicate, and I see that often in cars that are not BMW's. And I keep a safe distance behind drivers, I can't stand people who drive on my ***, and I never do anything I don't like someone doing to me. But mostly, I keep a safe distance, to avoid a collision. Tail-gating is something I notice in various drivers, in various different cars. If I am in the fast lane, and they tail-gate me, I move out the way. If I am in the slow lane and they tail-gate me, it get's on my nerves!!! Don't they realize how unsafe this is??? Wrong lane? How do you drive in the wrong lane? Listen when I'm driving fast I keep to the fast lane, usually, there is a jerk in the fast lane, driving 70 in a 65 (the same speed as the slower lane!!!) who wont move out the way, forcing me to switch lanes and pass them on the wrong side. Anytime I am in the fast lane, and I see someone coming fast behind me (probably not someone in the same car as me (not a beamer)), I move out to the slower lane. You know what??? I've seen all of these actions done by many drivers, in more cars than just beamers, and in fact, most of the beamers I've seen on the road, don't do this!!! I usually see this in, well I can't even name a specific car, it happens in different cars by different drivers! I've seen it in Honda's, Lexus', Acura's, Mustang's, Mitsubishi's, Subaru's, and just about any car I can think of. Yes, there might be a lot of assholes that drive BMW's, but that's because there are a lot of assholes on the streets, and they come in every car!

I say, you must be ignoring every other car, and waiting for every BMW to make a mistake, so you can add it to your list. Why don't you create a list of every car that does something in your details. Then compare how many more BMW drivers do this compared to other cars. In fact, for every vehicle put a good driver/bad driver section.

Hey, Happy Trucker, I gotta say, I have a lot of respect for truck drivers. It can't be easy driving all those days and all those nights to get the packages delivered on time.

i wouldn't necessarily say it just BMW drivers i think its everyone who has big expensive cars think they own the road, they either drive like idiots or like 90yr old pensioners, but all the same even though i had a smaller car they seemed to think they had the right to pull out on me and cut me up all the time, and i was a better driver than the lot of them put together.

I did ask someone (I kind of know) the other week where they got their new BMW from and how much extra did they have to pay to get one with indicators?! I witnessed the car indicating and was amazed!

Also, if I ever get hold of that woman in the red BMW who always goes through a red traffic light and leaves me in the middle of a road with traffic coming at me from both sides while I am trying to turn right - well she will certainly think better about doing it again!!!!!!

    GRRRRRRR!
