how do i put the code into my ford escort radio?

Question

ive found a code in the car which is for the radio but having no manual for the car means i dont know how to put it in.
the screen flashes 'code' at the moment.  when i press the buttons it changes the numbers and ive done this till it shows the code i have.
what do i do now?
ive pressed other buttons on the unit and the screen then changes to 'wait 30.....wait 29.... wait 28' and so on for 30 mins but then goes back to 'code'.

am i doing something wrong?

Try this...
Press preset button 1 repeatedly until first code number comes up, press preset button 2 repeatedly until second code number comes up, press preset button 3 repeatedly until third code number comes up,
if three figure code press preset button 4 to accept code, if four number code press preset button 4 repeatedly until fourth code number comes up and then press preset button 5 to accept.

What "Ragingmk" said enter each number by pressing each key in turn till the relevant number is on the screen, then hit the next button along to enter it. fairly certain all the ford radio codes were 4 digits.

easy press the first number into the n0 1 button then press two put the number in there and four the same to put the correct number in keep pressing the number until it reaches the one you want then usually the last to enter

I would suggest you take your car to a Ford dealer and they would show you, free of charge, so dont let them tell you other wise cuz you know what these big dealers are like.
