Hi, getting married mid august, thinking of the carribean for our honey moon, know its rainy season in aug. Which island would be best for temp/least rainfall in this month? Was thinking of aruba? Dont really know much about it compared to say bahamas, cuba etc. Want sun, white beaches the norm i guess! thanks!

You lucky think you!
If I was you I would give the Dominican Republic a miss - Lovely as it may be it's still the poor mans Caribbean (and extremely poor with it, not always nice to see on a Honeymoon!).
Cuba is lovely as long as you stick to Varadero on the west coast (better beachs & near to Havana).
It also depends on what you want to do, if it's a gorgous beach you want and do nothing but lie on the beach and whatever else you get up to on honeymoon(!) then I would recommend the Maldives, the most gorgeous place in the world.
If you want to do things and have a nice beach too I would thoroughly recommend Mexico (Yucatan Peninsula - NOT CANCUN!) It has great beaches and lots to do in the day too, you have great diving and the Mayan ruins (which are older than the pyramids in Egypt) Great water parks and shopping too, also don't forget the dollar exchange rate at the moment is fantastic.
My best friend got married nearly 3 weeks ago and came back from Mexico after a suggestion from us and they had an amazing time.
Have a fab time where ever you go.

Aruba is dry and hot - the interior of the island looks like the Arizona desert. It is also windy - almost a constant wind every day. That being said, there are very nice beaches, hotels, restaurants and scenery. Great for windsurfing, etc because of the wind. If that's sounds like what you are looking for, its a great island.
If you are looking for something not quite so hot, check out Anguilla (pronounced like vanilla). It has those perfect powder white sand beaches - some of the most beautiful beaches in the Carribean and its also very dry but not as hot as Aruba.

My favorite island is St. Kitts. I stayed at Marriott. It will be hot there, but if you like the sun and the sand and an all inclusive resort, then St. Kitts has everything. This resort has a multitude of restaurants, a casino, a travel desk, and the people are soooo friendly. Swim in the pool, go up to the bar for livations, see the local vendors, just about anything you want can be found on the island. I give it five stars.

It's hot everywhere in the Caribbean in August. I would check out Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire, Grenada, Trinidad and Barbados. Hurricane season June 1-Nov 30.
Go here for prior weather history on different islands.
click on vacation planner, put dates and destination in box and you will get 5 years prior weather history.
Go here for ideas and reviews on hotels
After you do your research go to a reliable local travel agency. They are the experts and can help you if you need any help on your trip or before your trip. Be sure to take travel insurance out since it is hurricane season.
Have a wonderful honeymoon and congratulation on your up coming marriage. Good Luck

There's an aggressive feeling in that part of the world, the differences in income and wealth are not borne lightly.
Why not try a Buddhist country, anywhere in South East Asia (but not Malaysia which is not Buddhist), maybe Sri Lanka (but I've not been there), or even China (Buddhist & Taoist) full of colour, energy, and beauty.

Sunscape the beach in Bavaro Dominican Republic is absolutely beautiful, just had a holiday there, it was amazing.
They have honeymoon suites and presidential suites with jacuzzis on the balconys, heaven.
They have pictures of this resort on trip advisor.
Hope this helps.

Come to ANTIGUA - you won't regret it. Warm, friendly, inviting, accommodating people. 365 lovely pristine beaches, lots of day and night activities. Delectable local dishes and I recommend the Sandals all-inclusive resort, it's world renown. the sunsets are picturesque and the night sky is always brilliantly lit by millions of stars and a magnificent moon.
