how does ps3 look on a HDtv?
how does the ps3 stand up to all the hype? I have recently purchased a hdtv ( toshiba 37wlt66) and am wondering just how good the ps3 looks on it, (in case anyone has the same tv as me) but in general, how does it look on a 720p hdtv? is blu ray living up to the hype that has been generated about it? I live in Ireland so the ps3 is being released tomorrow in Europe, but most places will have it displayed on a sony bravia 1080p tv, so hopefully the rest of us get a good hd gaming experience..
thanks very much if you can answer these concerns!

It will still look awesome! definitely an awesome experience. But of course, it will be the best on a 1080p (true high definition tv). Blu-ray is awesome. I have played ps3 games on 720p and watched blu-ray movies on 1080p. It is awesome!
If you are purchasing a ps3 for the blu-ray player, i suggest maybe waiting a bit to see whether it will beat the new hd-dvd.

if you put a blu ray disk on a ps3 it will look at its best if you have a 1080p TV. But it will also look good an 1080i. But if its on 720p it will downscale to 480p. Which is not high def. But the games are all in 720p, 1080i and 1080p. So You will be ok for the games. But if you want blu ray, you will need 1080p or if not 1080i. So i think the ps3 does look good on an HDTV. For the games anyway and the blu ray on 1080p.

Well, the PS3 will auto-configure itsel to give you the best possible picture on your TV. That being said, of course the better your TV, the better the end results.
As far as what I've seen graphics wise from the ps3, so far, it's not worth the inordinately high price tag. The games that I've seen and played so far have left me distinctly underwhelmed. The only thing that's making me happy about my investment so far is that I basically got a blu-ray player for around $200 less than any other player on the market.
