I have a 10 month old GSMD and I've been told he won't be done growing until he is 3. He is not supposed to pull any substantial weight until 3 years of age. GSMD's are the greatest dogs! We're thinking of getting a second. Good Luck!

I am a swissy owner and they are slow growers...which is great! They won't be at their full size for two to three years. The first year they gain most of their height and the rest of the time is putting on muscle to support those big bones. DO NOT let a swissy pup jump in and out of vehicles, on slick floors or go up and down stairs. It can and will hurt the swissy's joints, wait until they are at least 18 months old before letting them jump...which is hard to do because they love to jump and play.

Swissy's are the most affectionate breed of dog I have ever owned, I don't think I could ever own any other type of dog now that I have had one.

Hi there I am a Veterinarian Technition and hope I can help! GSM dogs are awesome dogs, congratulations! The larger breeds (like yours!!) sometimes don't fully stop growing or maturing until close to 2 years! Typically, after 15 months or so we start to see them settling, but those big breeds take a while to grow! Make sure you aren't feeding her too much protein (less than 25%) so she grows normally! Good luck!!
