Thanks to the quasi-biennial oscillation the 2007 hurricane year should be pretty quiet, much like the 2006 hurricane year. I have no idea why they said 2006 was going to be a nasty year, because hurricane seasons go in cycles with the QBO, 2 active years and 2 not-so-active years. 2004 and 2005 were active years, 2006 and 2007 will be inactive years. 2006 was inactive, seeing as how not a single hurricane hit the US, a couple tropical storms did. 2008 and 2009 should be the next active years.

Worthless. It's been proven that predictions made before the start of the hurricane season are hardly better than blind guessing. Remember, their prediction for 2006 was higher than the prediction for 2005. In fact, the 2006 prediction was the largest they have ever made, and we know how that turned out.

Im guessing 2007 might be very active. 2006 was unusually quiet but we could see the next few years almost as bad as 2005 season

These predictions vary according to experts but an averageish estimate gives 15 storms with around 8 turning into hurricanes.
