Who can unbiasly admit Albert Pujols is the best baseball player in the world today?

If your a Yankee, Cub, Red Sox fan, being bias is easy so try to overcome the kool-aid each team spends on crap talent each year.... cough cough Cubs signing Jason Marquis 3 years 21 million dollars... cough cough!

Cubs fan here - that has nothing to do with talent assessment. Pujols is the top player in MLB, by far, at this time. Nobody else in the game can throw a team on their back and carry them for stretches like he can.

As a Yankees fan I have to say that honestly Albert Pujols is the best player right now, and he could become the best baseball player all-time. He's had the best start to his career of any baseball player. He already has like 250 homers and it's only been what, five years?

Ryan Howard won the RoY in '05 and MVP in '06. He also happens to be OLDER then Pujols, who won RoY in '01. That shows just how crazy good Pujols was at a young age.

Pujols is on pace to blow apart the home run record, along with a whole bunch of other records. Not only that, but he isn't even a "one dimensional" slugger like Adam Dunn - he plays good defense and won a Gold Glove, he hits for average and takes lots of walks, and he can even steal bases - 36 career SBs so far.

I am a sox fan who absolutely loves Albert Pujols as a player. With that said though I would rather have a guy like Jose Reyes or Alfonso Soriano on my team.Reason being is the five tool lead off players are the most valuable thing to have in this day when great lead off players are hard to come buy.Lets take reyes in an example. He had 50+ steals last season meaning that its like he actually hit 50+ more doubles (on top of the many doubles he already had),putting him in scoring position that many more times. What this does to is make the pitcher worried about him since he also has the speed to steal third,so alot of fastballs will come to the meat of your order cause they want to get it to the catcher fast for a chance at throwing him out if he tries for third.Power hitters love fastballs especially coming from pithcers who are distracted and focusing on a fast base runner instead of striking the guy out. Then if reyes does steal third to,even a shallow pop out in the outfield is enough to get him in for a run.

A guy who bats .300 with some pop and is 50 steals capable is great cause along with putting up his own numbers he gives the guys after him alot more pitches to see when he gets on base making the whole line up better as a result.Guys like Derek Lee,david Ortiz,Todd helton,Ryan Howard, etc have done the kind of things pujols has even if not with the same consistency (with ortiz probably being the best of the group when it comes to hitting in the biggest pressure or clutch situations) So you can find similar players to Pujols out there.Finding a guy who succeeds in all 5 major stat categories and who makes picthers more predictable every time he reaches base is so much harder to find.I would say overall Reyes is probably the best player for the reasons explained. When it comes to a strictly power guy for homers and RBIs then yes Pujols would be my first choice even over the clutch hitting Ortiz.

He could be the best player-certainly the best hitter-in the NL. But watch this kid on the Marlins, Miguel Cabrera. Hes phenomenal, but doesnt get as much press being with the low rent Marlins. Someone else mentioned Derek Lee. Good choice; if he can stay healthy, look out. Soriano is not as good a hitter as Pujols or Cabrera, but he could be your first 45-45 man.

He is by far the best hitter in baseball. But when you're talking about the best, you have to figure in defense and baserunning. He's good in both, but far from being the best.

Derek Lee is a better defensive 1B and a better baserunner. He can hit, too.

I'm neither a Cubs or a Cards fan.

I'm a Braves fan and I can tell you the last 5 years or so, he has been the best overall player as he has power, hits for average, hits in the clutch, is a good fielder and team player. Yes Mr Pujols is quite arguably the best among a lot of really good players today. And now he also has a World Series ring too!

I'm a Cubs fan and it hurts me to say he has been the one of the best for the last few years and is one of the best in Baseball today... Its really hard to say definitively who is the best but his name is in the conversation for sure... (active players) ... But he better watch out because the Cubs are going to make a move this year.....

    GO CUBBIES!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a huge Sox fan, but I'm gonna go with saying he is probably one of the best. He's just got the talent. You can't doubt that. He's going far in baseball.

He is good and maybe a HOF'er in the future if he doesn't get hurt. Give Credit where credit is due. But the best of all time come on peeple. He is good but not that good.
