WHAT forces Mexicans to flee their own country?
Why dosen't the Mexican government make life better for the people of Mexico so they don't feel compelled to leave?
I know their tax structue is corrupt. The money comes into the federal coffers and never gets redistributed. This accounts for the creation of poorer citizens.
Shouldn't some pressure be brought to bear on the Mexican government to start cleaning up their internal messes?
How does the rest of the world view this situation?

you are assuming that mexican citizens have the ability to put pressure on their government. mexico is not the US, so you can't expect the same actions, or the same results, as the situation would play out here in the US. the average mexican is working to live week to week, they simply don't have the time, or often the education level, to take on the government. they are imobilized by the goings on of daily life. the average "activist" in mexico is a teen, or young college student, whose idea of protest is to hit cops, or throw chicken heads at them....not exactly intelligent means of bringing out change or voicing a mature opinion.
i don't believe we should get involved in mexico's business. they are a democracy, they are hardly a 3rd world country, and they are making it ok. the US butts its nose into too many countries' business. we need to be good neighbors and that's about all we can do.
you know those people who always complain they are overweight? but then they don't work out, and they always eat fast food?? that situation could apply to many people in mexico. the cooruption, the problems you see, are SOOO wide spread, so long term, that it's just the way things are right now. i see people complaining about dishonestly and cooruption, and then they go off and do the SAME thing themselves. meaning...someone complains how the police are so coorupt, and then that same person offers a bribe to get out of a legitimate traffic ticket. that is NOT the kind of thing that brings about change!

And who or what will bring pressure to bear on the Mexican government? Mexico is a sovereign country and its citizens have a right to chose their own way...going to the US to work and sending money home is a way of life for poorer Mexicans. The remittances are in the billions. Please don't recommend that the US bring this pressure, our mission to bring democracy to Iraq has been a colossal failure. Mexico is no longer a Third World country.

The rest of the world doesn't really care about the Mexicans, but delights in pointing the finger at us, for protecting our borders. As to the government being corrupt, it is an entrenched policy of corruption. The ones who could change it, are the most corrupted, so they aren't about to.
