    For monoatomic gas:

    a. Average KE=1/2 m*v^2 (m=mass, v=average speed)

    b. 1/2mv^2=3/2 kT

    k=Boltzmann constant, T=kinetic temperature

    For, a gas with more than one atom modify a) such that m is total mass and v is the velocity of CM and for b) modify the factor 3/2 depending on the number of degrees of freedom.
