is "gut feeling" really the best to go on?

I noticed in some of my questions about relationships people usually answer and somewhere in their anwer they'll say "go with your "gut feeling"

is that really a good idea?

if i did then i'd probably be a pretty hard person to be around lol

what do you think?

Since feelings are at the core of any relationship, then I'd say yes, your gut feelings are what you should go with in that situation. If it were about anything else, like financial investing or training animals, then I'd say go more with the intellectual understanding and knowledge of the situation but never ignore your gut feeling if it's trying to say something's wrong.

YES! ALWAYS go with the gut. I moved 2000 miles away (yes I'm an idiot) for a woman. Right before I moved something happened between us & my gut told me not to move. I went anyway because I felt guilty. The worse mistake of my life, I lost 9+ years in another state because I didn't listen to my gut. This is just one of many examples. It won't always be right but 99% of the time it is.

i think the "gut feeling" helps you know what you really want or how you really feel.. and although it is a good choice... you should evaluate it first.. is it something that can hurt someone else? will i end up happy in the long run?

gut feelings can be very strong but then usually only apply to you.. for this moment in time alone..and what would make you happiest right now.. they a great to go by sometimes.. but not without considering the overall consequences

"Gut feeling" is the voice of what we call instinct.

We tend to rationalize emotions, but down deep inside of us, we have the answer. Gut feeling/instinct tell us when something is wrong or right. When something doesn't feel "right" we feel it.

"There is nothing magical about this sixth-sense. It's simply your body's first reaction to adrenaline entering your blood stream.

As your digestive system is being shut down to allow more blood to flow to your muscles, you get a queasy feeling in your stomach.

Your body is getting a shot of adrenaline because your brain has determined that you're in danger. It isn't paranoia or imagined fear. It's real, and you need to pay attention to it. Deadly attention.

Your sub-conscious which operates ten times faster than your conscious mind has picked up on signals of danger that your conscious mind has not yet processed."

I think, if you think you're often a defeatist or pessimistic person, don't ALWAYS follow your gut. Listen to your friends sometimes.

Conversely, if you're often an optimist, your gut may lead you astray too. (However, for optimists, just by their nature their positive nature can open doors for them that wouldn't regularly be open.)

Either way, if you can some how separate yourself from your situation and try to look at your situation objectively (for example, pretend your situation is happening to someone else), ponder on that and then go with your gut.

why would you be a hard person to be around?

gut feeling always works because gut feeling is another way of saying "deep in my heart, i know this is right"

once youre in love you will know what i mean

I think if you feel your gut if right then go with it but if you brain is telling the common sense of the situation I would go with that.

"gut feeling?" hmmmmm, i dont know if i even know what that means. what if you have gas? does that mean you should fart?

i think you should go with what you think or say first. its the most honest answer or decision. unless you have an "a$$hole" type personality. then i would ask a sister, mother or close "girl' friend. BEFORE YOU EVER SPEAK TO ANOTHER WOMAN.

    lol ......jus playin with ya

lol...No, it's not a good idea to just 'go with your gut feeling', but it's also not a good idea to ignore your gut feeling.

It's best to stay in touch with what you feel and to be cautious, but also to keep your eyes and ears open.

In some instances your 'gut feeling' can also be your conscience, and that's definitely one to 'go with' when you're feeling uneasy about choices made.
