"As of" and "As from", can they be used indistinctively, what is their correct usage grammatically speaking?
My first language is Spanish and I have a hard time deciding which to use when I want to say that something is effective from a certain date on, is it "as of October 2" or "as from October 2"?

Entiendo, sí pues puede ser muy complicado usar las preposiciones en inglés
Vamos a ver,
La respuesta a tu pregunta específica es "as of October 2" ¿Por qué?
Pues 'as of' es equivalente a 'on' y 'at'
Examples:
-The project was terminated as of January 1 (http://www.answers.com/main/ntquery?s=as+of&gwp=13...
-As of Friday the 27th of May.
'As from' no es una preposición correcta en inglés.
The confusion, perhaps, has to do with the common use of 'from' to indicate a specific place or time as a starting point:
From Friday to Monday
