How is it possible to get rid of house flies, without using poison (inside and outside)?

theres these strips from the old days ....some places still sell em, its a sticky strip u hang from your ceiling, and they attract the flies and they stick on em and cant get off , i dont know if theres poison on there or not , but at least it wont be sprayed into the air

I know 2 oldfashioned ways:

1) If you hang transparent plastic bags filled with water around the ceiling in front of the doors or at some high point and flies do not come in. (the explanation i have been told for this is that they see their self as in a mirror 100 times bigger and they get scared)

2) you put on a table a glass with a piece of cotton in it, wet with vinegar, flies simply do not approach.

I prefer the 1 solution cause i ve seen it working prefectly in Crete/Greece!

How do they get in? If they are near an open window or door . Put a screen up .

To actually annoy them. Turn on a fan.

Have a fan blow em back out the way they came in.

Get a friend who is really bored and give them a swatter.Leave out a piece of rotting meat in a container. They will all dive into that. Then slam the lid on!

use a deodouriser and a disinfectant like detol or maybe phenol to get rid of the flies. add some phenol or detol in a bucket of water and sprinkle the water around your house , inside and outside.

Clean everything with pine sol, or at least 409. especially under the refrigerator, and anywhere food may have fallen and is attracting the flies. wash out garbage can in kitchen, and never leave food out , including old fruit.
