i need to leave home and rent a flat. council have nothing?

but have said i can find something in the private sector and they will assist me with the excessive rent. problem is i can't get the deposit needed to rent privately (approx £2,000). does anyone know if the dss, housing benefit or whatever can help me with this initial payment.

    If you are homeless then the council/ local authority may stump up the deposit but not the first months rent.

    You will have to pay this back in instalments.

    I dunno where you live but £1000 rent a month is the luxury end of the market here up north!!

    Sorry mate, you have no chance of getting the deosit from the dss. Why dont you consider buying? Some deals are much cheaper than renting (initial costs & monthly payments).

    When we were in a similar situation i'm sure the council mentioned something about a bond. Sorry i can't be of any more help. Good luck.

    Where in the hell are you that you need a £2,000 deposit? I live in central London and you would need only half of that here.
