HOW TO DOCUMENT OR CITE PROFESSIONAL LITERARY CRITICISM
You use documentation so readers can understand which ideas and claims are your own and which should be attributed to other sources. Documentation allows your readers to track the sources you have used. You should document all ideas opinions, and information that came from other sources and that cannot be considered common knowledge (common knowledge includes the facts, dates, events, information, and concepts that an educated reader can be assumed to know).
Documentation in literature involves two steps: creating an in-text note for every source as you use it in your essay; and creating an entry on a Works Cited page for each source used in the essay.
Step 1: In the body of your paper, note each source as you use it by enclosing the author's last name and the relevant page number(s) within parentheses. If you state the name of the author in the body of the text, only include the page numbers in the parentheses.
Examples:
Gilbert and Gubar argue that Thornfield's attic "becomes a complex focal point where Jane's own rationality (what she has learned from Miss Temple) and her irrationality" intersect (348).
Many of the female authority figures in Jane Eyre—including Mrs. Reed, Miss Temple, and Mrs. Fairfax—are "the surrogate of an absent master" (Gilbert and Gubar 348).
Gilbert and Gubar note that Bronte uses images of fire and ice to characterize Jane's experiences (339).
Helen Burns's name is significant because she burns with spiritual passion and anger (Gilbert and Gubar 346).
If the source is online and does not have page numbers, use the paragraph number instead.
Miss Temple's hearth is illuminated by the moon, traditionally associated with female deities (Clarke para. 21).
Step 2: On a separate page at the end of your essay, list alphabetically every source you cited. This list of sources is titled "Works Cited." The Works Cited entry for Gilbert and Gubar would look like this:
Gilbert, Sandra, and Susan Gubar. The Madwoman in the Attic. New Haven: Yale University Press, 2000.
To cite an article from an online source, use the following format:
Author's Last Name, First Name. "Title of Article." Name of Journal issue# (Date of article): page numbers. Name of Database. Date you downloaded or read the article. URL (web address).
Examples:
Clarke, Micael M. "Bronte's Jane Eyre and the Grimms' Cinderella." Studies in English Literature. 40 (Autumn 2000): 695-711. EBSCO Academic. 05 Feb 2002. http://ehostvgw5.epnet.com/ehost.asp?

hi, i'm going to enable you already know why on condition that often times I quote supplies and often times no longer. I have been given a level from college so i'm properly attentive to those regulations. while you're doing tutorial analyze or quoting from an editorial on an identical time as attempting to grant data on an thought, then it fairly is mandatory. on the different hand if the question is purely difficulty-loose familiar information, there is not any reason to quote a source. as an example, if I say there are theories out that Napoleon would have been steadily poisoned with arsenic then i could would desire to return up with the supplies like Mr. Weider, the papers via researchers in forensics who studied his hair and did the prognosis on his maintains to be and in step with danger quote or website supplies who reported particular contributors of his group on St. Helena did it over the years. If I quote their statements quickly, I cite the author. on the different hand if I say Pearl Harbour exchange into bombed Dec. 7, 1941, Lincoln exchange into assassinated via an Actor referred to as sales area on the Ford theatre, virtually 0.5 the yank inhabitants is gloomy with the conflict in Iraq and James Watt invented the steam engine, Aristotle died a 365 days earlier the library of Alexandria exchange into built, or the jap commited atrocities in 1937 in Nanking, then then I see no reason to quote a supplies. If each question, a lot of them basic had to be researched and noted like a theisis, i will think of that purely some human beings could respond to those boards. Regards, Michael Kelly

I assume you want to cite it in the bibliography. It depends on the citation style your teacher wants. If I knew all the information, I could put it in Turabian format for you. I'm not well polished on the others.
But literary crit... Your teacher probably wants MLA :)
