What are some good songs to play on an acoustic guitar?

Im into rock but am open to anything. For some ideas, I like to play Outside by staind, all acoustic nirvana, seether acoustic, smashing pumpkins, and stone temple pilots. But like I said, open to anything.

It sounds like you've got the 90's rock-alt era covered. Try to master your craft by understanding music from several angles: For alt-country, try Whiskeytown (e.g., "Come Around", "Bar Lights", or the classic "Factory Girl")...for current singer-songwriters, look at Josh Rouse (e.g., "1972", "Under Your Charms")...for 70's singer-songwriters, look at James Taylor (e.g., "Fire and Rain", "Something in the Way She Moves")...for 60's rock, look at The Who (e.g., "Bargain", "Behind Blue Eyes")...for 40's Jazz, look at Django Reinhardt (e.g., "I'll Never Be the Same", "Honeysuckle Rose")...for entertaining at parties, you should always know some Beatles ("Rocky Raccoon", "Strawberry Fields", "I Will") and Bob Dylan ("Knockin' on Heaven's Door", "Tangled Up in Blue", "Masters of War", "Visions of Johanna")...

Seriously, go far beyond what radio tells you to listen to...go well beyond the simplistic boundaries of what you know and how you categorize music ("Oh, I like Alternative" or "Classic Rock"). Bullocks! look around...listen to everything you can get your hands on...from alternative to zydeco. Being a musician is such a privelige that you shouldn't ever feel boxed into expressing yourself by only one sound.

    peace

Edited to add: If you have iTunes or some other d/l service, go listen to a tune called "Prodigal Son" by The Rolling Stones. Excellent acoustic playing...you'd kick a$$ at your next party if you whip this song out!
