Should Canada become a Republic and elect it's own head of state instead of England's Queen?

Update:

I believe it should elect a President as head of State, but not of government. This would be an election by the people, as happens in Ireland, Germany, and many other countries, and would be for 2 possible terms of 5 to 7 years.

As a Canadian, I think it should but still be a member of the British Commonwealth.

We have no need for Elizabeth!! here, besides they have ruined the monarchy.

However, it will not happen in my lifetime, but I believe it eventually will with the amount of non-English immigration that has arrived.

Strictly a question for you Canadians.

I was over there last September and being British, I was pleased to see the traditions being maintained.

However, what motivation is there in Canada for a movement to instal a President rather than the Monarchy, given that the USA, with a President, is non too popular in his Country?

A Republic for Canada would be a great move for our neighbors to the North. I would even come with Molson in hand to help celebrate that occasion, ay?
