When you select an answer as Best Answer, do you also give them a thumbs up?

yes i do - i think its rude if you dont give them a thumb up when you choose them as best.

Sometimes, but not necessarily. Actually sometimes I've chosen answers that I don't like specifically so that I could reply to the person in question. So, I've actually given a thumbs down to the same best answer!

That's one sort of difficult thing about Yahoo Answers. You get this one-liner comments where you never hear from the person again. All they do is leave their 2 cent opinion and probably never even check back.

What I wonder about is why people care about points here. I think it works a lot better when you don't. The point thing sort of gets people to just leave bad comments for the points.

Yes, I do now that I know that will give them an extra bonus point. Even when a question is resolved, the "best answer" will earn 1 point for every thumbs up that it receives.
