If public schools switch to school uniforms will it save the family money?

Our county school system switched to uniforms 6 years ago. I do not believe it saves money because you have to have a double wardrobe for your child. Also, uniform brand clothes are often more expensive than normal clothes. Traditional girls shorts cost $17 for Dickies brand. Most French Toast brand bottems cost over $10. That may not seem like much but it adds up very quickly.

You know in the long run I would think it would save money because if all schools wore uniforms then you wouldn't have to feel bad and buy expensive clothes just so the child isn't made fun of because of clothes! At least it would be one issue that can't belittle a child.

It saves wear and tear on everyday clothes because you are not constantly buying clothes. The school community looks better too in uniforms and there is no peer pressure for the latest designer clothes.
