List as many U.S. cities that got their names from places in other countries?

For example: St. Petersburg, Florida or Sicily, Alaska.

Please give the country of origin if possible and list your

source(s).

Happy hunting: )

Update:

This is trivia for fun, not necessarily

for homework or research.

Update 2:

I didn't mean you had to list every city

there is. Just list as many as you can.

Whoever lists the most cities gets the 10 pts.

You could spend weeks on that topic. You're probably talking thousands of cities. Narrow it down to a state or even county, possibly trying to find out how the name came to be used.

Another interesting topic is the names that came from, topography, location, residents or commercial functions.

    Sorry I couldn't help.
