Why do my answers get a violation??

I have received 2 answer violations for no good reason. I answered one question by saying I Don't Know and the other I answered a common brand question by giving her a name brand. I am fighting the violations but has this happened to you? And do you get the violation when someone deletes your answer? Not fair...I think if someone is going around deleting answers to give these people violations, I thnk yahoo should boo them, not give me or you violations!!

The second violation is worth fighting. The first one actually IS a violation because you answered "I don't know" and therefore really didn't answer the question.

Regardless, I think it is silly to report people unless they are sending out obvious spam or being really crude.

Never answer questions without answering them.

"I don't know" is NOT an answer. If you didn't know the answer, then you shouldn't have clicked the Answer button.

    It's that simple.

Follow the link to the Guidelines at the bottom of the page to read them.

If you don't want to stay within them, then don't come to this site -- there a whole big Web out there.

If your other answer didn't violate any of the Guidelines, and it did answer the question, you can contest it by clicking Forum (top right of screen), then Wrongful Deletions.

Users can't delete things; only Yahoo staff, usually in response to Abuse Report forms.

Deleting posts that violate the Guidelines is fair; deleting posts that don't isn't.

I don't know is not an answer. I mean that is just trying to gain points and doesn't even help anyone so I can see how and why you got an violation for that.

Your other answer by giving her a brand name I am not sure. Did you just give a one word answer? I honestly find that annoying. I mean when you talk to someone do you just give one word answers? Or do you take the time to give a complete sentence?

I get very annoyed at times while looking on Yahoo answer and see people giving dull answers like, "How should I know?" and stuff like that. That is just plain rude. If you don't know something don't answer. If you do know how to answer their question answer it in a nice way. not just giving a website link, one or two words. You are talking to another human being who took the time to get online and post a question.

I am not saying what you did is wrong or anything, but I see a lot of people who seem to abuse Yahoo Answers and just type dumb answers just get points so I can see why Yahoo Answer is getting strict with their terms of use and stuff like that. When people act rude and like jerks it hurts us other people who follow the rules.

Be very careful what you give as an answer. Many people just want to know what, how, when or where answers, not exact (products, places, times, etc.) answers!

Also, some people are more sensitive then others and don't know a jest answer from the real thing.

I got two violations for asking questions and I have no idea why. And then I would see almost the same question on here after.

    Violations? That's bad.

"I don't know" technically isn't an answer to the question because everyone could answer with that and game for points.......

As for the second answer that was deleted you didn't really give enough info.....

If your answer gets deleted good luck on getting the points back...it's happened to me a few times...it's annoying

You really need to read the rules and figure out what you are doing here. Go to the bottom of the page and click on 'Community Guidelines'. Best of luck, and I hope your Yahoo! Answers experience is an enjoyable one.

You said your answers were "I don't know". Saying "I don't know" is considered Not An Answer. Which is against the community guidelines.
