I think that Dish Network is cheaper overall, but there is very little difference between the two. The link below discusses some of these differences.
Do you have a clear view to the south for your dish? If not, that may be the cause of some of your problems. It is likely you may have problems with either provider in this scenario.

Well I have dish network and I'm happy. It's a lot better than when I had Direct TV before. I think Dish Network is cheaper. Dish basic - $24.99 to $77.99, direct tv basic - $39.99 to $90.99. With Dish Network you can get up to 4 recievers installed if you commit to 12 months of service. Dish network doesn't charge you for PVR (personal video recording, pause rewind crap) services but direct tv does. So I guess in my opinion Dish Network is better as it basically offers the same features just for a better price

I've had Dish Network for about 4 years and I've never had the problems you are. It has to really storm for me to loose my signal. I agree with the other people who say you should call and get it re-aligned.
I had to get Dish over Direct TV, I live in an apartment and I couldn't get the right angle for Direct. You might want to compare the packages between the two and see which one you like better. I do know that Direct TV has some channels that Dish doesn't. The NFL pacakage comes first to mind.

They are both priced about the same and you won't have the receiption problem with Direct TV, I know of at least 8 people who have switched from Dish to Direct for the same issues you are having.

We've had Dish network since 04' and here, and in another city we lived in, if I had any trouble with the satellite, I called and they immediately put me in touch with the local company to fix it, or they took care of any problems then and there. As far as price, I'm looking for a cheaper deal, but so far, Directv is about the same.

Hi,
I'd clearly vote for Dish cause:
- cheaper
- more channels and more variety
- awesome picture quality
You might check out http://www.dishnetworkbargains.net/ - They currently run some promo with free Dish and DVR you might take advantage of. If you have any questions just call 'em up, they are professional and helpful.
Hope that helps.
Best wishes

I've heard there are problems with dish TV. I hope that you get your problem
settled. I see someone suggested Direct TV. It has to be better than what you
have now. What a nuisance!!

direct tv, you wont have all the problems you will with a dish and the price is usually more channels & extra features than you'd get with dish
