    depends on you.

    grip:

choose a grip that suits your hand. don't choose a grip which is too small or too big. it can lead you to injury

    lenght:

a standard racket lenght is 27 inch. but some racket offer longer racket so you can get extra reach & power.

if you are short, dont choose a racket which is too long. and if you are tall dont choose a racket which is too short.

    prestrung or unstrung:

prestrung racket usually cheaper than unstrung racket

    headsize:

the larger the headsize, it has bigger sweetspot. but if you choose the smaller headsize, it gives you more control. so if you choose a power-style tennis then choose a headsize which is big (choose an OverSize version). and if you prefer control then choose a smaller headsize.

    weigh:

if you want more power, than choose a lighter racket (9oz-10oz) but if you want more control in your game, choose a heavier racket (>10,5 oz).

    measure your own power.

    head heavy or head light:

it is about you racket's balance. head heavy is when your racket's head heavier than the handle. head light is when you racket's head ligher than the handle. and another possibility: "even".

head heavy gives you more power while head light gives you more control. and "even" gives you power from the baseline & maneuverability at the net

    open or dense string pattern:

if you choose open string pattern, it gives you bigger sweetspot (easier to add spin). while dense string pattern gives you more control. open string pattern have 16 main & 20 cross strings. dense string pattern have 18 main & 20 cross strings

    budget:

how much budget do you have? if you have more, why dont you buy an expensive racket so it have good feature?

    you like it or not?

don't follow other people's choice but you must choose a racket which do you like

    hope this helps

A squash racket appears to have a longer handle and the head is smaller. The stringing is very similar and the tension on the strings is made to suit the individual player. The squash ball is smaller and softer than a tennis ball and can have different degrees of bounce according to the colour of the spot on the ball.

If you are only learning, go with a used or inexpensive one. You may learn the fundamentals a little better with an inferior racket.

Also, if you decide that you don't really like to play that much, at least you won't have an expensive "closet ornament" sitting around.

A light racquet and tight strings. A light racquet will give you better feel (less power) and the tight strings (as tight as the racquest allows...printed on racquet) will give you better feel/less power. Both help keep the ball from flying off the court. If you buy a racquet that is pre-strung it will likely not be at full tension and I would suggest restringing it at a sports shop or tennis club.

midsize head, ie not too big

the important thing is to get the best size handle for the size of your hands. if the grip is too small you can strain your wrist and elbow, if the grip is too big you will find it difficult to keep hold of the racquet.

a tennis pro should have a selection of used racquets to choose from, you can try a few before buying.

tennis is a great game at all levels - have fun
