to be honest.......ocars are VERY aggressive, IF you have them long enough (which I doubt) they might reproduce....slow moving anything in an aggressive tank won't survive long. Im sorry but Im giving you the true honest answer.

Source(s): I have pirahans...just as aggressive as oscars, and my snails lasted 3 weeks...before the fish found them and got em.

Apple Snails are often labeled as "Mystery Snails", and unlike many other snails, they are not hermaphrodites, they are gonochoristic meaning they DO need a male and female to reproduce. Apple Snails are also not live-bearers, as many snails are. They will have a clutch of eggs above the waterline, if the conditions are right.

The optimum temperature range is 65-82°F. Too high and it puts their metabolism in fast forward, dramatically reducing their lifespan. Although a temporary increase in temperature may inducing mating. Too low and they will crawl under the substrate and go dormant.

Their needs to be about 6 inches of airspace between the lip of the aquarium and the surface of the water because the eggs are laid in a dry spot out of the water. If you don't want baby snails just remove the eggs.

After mating the female will have a clutch every 4 to 7 days for several weeks.

One woman can lay 1000's of eggs that are so tiny, you would probable no longer see them, and at the same time as they hatch, you presently have an aquarium finished of the little mollusks. notwithstanding, they are not aphids and do not reproduce asexually by parthenogenesis so a ways as i comprehend, yet then in primitive organisms unusual stuff can happen like the oceanic creature that would want to change its sex at the same time as the choose arises! No technological information fiction right here, yet truth! Aphids are frequently BORN pregnant! How's that for a virgin beginning. staggering aspect to do such as your overpopulating snails is boil 'em, or deep fry 'em and make your own escargot. Yum Yum. or you should use the organic and organic technique of introducing a predator that somewhat enjoys their flavor. The Aquarium fanatic who's overrun with this or that organism, well-knownshows out that, in 9 cases out of ten it became his or her fault for no longer turning out to be an ecological stability. Even worse, some dummies launch those black snails in lakes and streams. my own section is overrun with the snails that are non-interior reach and are literally threatening the fish and interior reach snails in a unmarried of our greatest lakes. staggering guess! eliminate the fish out of your aquarium and boil the water and spoil each of the snails and their larvae and eggs, then fix the tank with clean water and replace the fish by hand. do no longer enable the former water to the contact the recent if conceivable.

snails reproduce extremely fast, i started with 2 snails in my tank and within 3 months i had near 100. As long as the snails are male and female they will breed easily and fast, just leave them in the tank.

with my experience with snails, they are asexual, and dont need to mate in order to reproduce....atleast with pond snails anyways.

i have them in my 25 gallon fishtank, and i am always seeing these little egg sack patches all over my tank. it seems that they come from all my big snails which i only have 6, so that means that all 6 are laying these sacks. i see them on my decorations, and on my plants.

i have a clown loach, a dojo loach, and some corydora fish in this tank, and they eat the smaller snails.

if successfully living in your oscar tank, and your oscar isnt eating them, then yes, they will successfully reproduce, but most likely the babies will not last long, as your oscar will most likely eat them.

Mystery snails require a mate, but don't have sexes. (Some snails like ramshorns don't need a mate, and other have male, and female sexes.) They will mate, and reproduce, but not very fast like other snails.
