Sony dvd-rom DDUU1622 will not play dvd or cds?
When I insert a dvd into the drive, it tries to read it - I can hear it try to run for 2 minutes, but it will not play. My pc detects the drive - I also inserted a cd but it does the same thing. Can someone help with this? Is it the dvd-rom malfunctioning (probem with the motor)?

if it does not read neither CD's or DVDs, it can be 1 of two things.
the lens is dirty.
the whole thing is gone, change it.
if after you change it, the new drive still won't read... your OS is corrupted and will need to be reinstalled.
