Non Muslims, where do you get the information about Islam ?
In this Yahoo Answer, I noticed many non Muslims do not have correct facts or misleading information about Islam. Where do you get the information from ? Is this the type of culture being practise by the non Muslims to spread negative thinking about Islam and instill hatred towards the Muslims ? Thanks for answering my question.

Well, to put it bluntly, we see how most muslims act! on t.v everyday, and in our own cities. Most of them have an intense hatred for America and Israel! some are compassinate, and are not mean! but the majority are. Sorry to say!
I have a very good friend who is Muslim, I get along with him, but not his dad, he dad was happy about 9/11.
So, this is how we get are info. By their actions. And its not a sterotype! cuz its happening before our eyes.

It's the muslims that don't use real sources for historical debates. There are things that can be corroberated between contemporaries from Catholicism, Judaism, Buddhism, Zoroastrianism, Hinduism, and Mandeaism, as well as from the boasts of muslims. For the facts about muhammad's many glaring faults, it is all islamic literature - that which muslims hail most, the quran, then the most trusted hadiths.
I've actually had most muslims argue with me without them knowing a hundredth of what I remember from their own writings. I've actually been told that everyone but muslims are evil liars, and asked why on earth I don't just worship as muhammad did? One person who had never read the quran even spoke of the quran of the heart being enough!
Muslims even misrepresent the facts from their own earliest champions. The dwindling populations of wholly or largely non-islamic ethnic groups speaks volumes. Stop the islamic lies and please think a little. Many muslims are - apart from their ignorant stubborness and fear-driven cowardice among their peers - too good for such as they extol and surrender their intelligences to.

For me, I get my information from a variety of sources, ex-Muslims, Christian researchers, secular writers, and Muslim sources. But frankly speaking, I tend to take the moderate Muslims' writings with a pinch of salt because I feel that they tend to sugar coat many things in Islam and gloss over too many things. I find their attempts to explain away the radical elements lacking in clarity and logic. They simply take the stand that the moderate position MUST be true and assume that by marginalising the radical elements as deviant they have won the war of ideology by default.
What I would really like to see is a radical and a moderate go head to head (no pun intended!) in a publicised debate on the exegesis and exposition of the Koran to see who has the right practice of Islam today.

Read Koran once.
A few academic books on Islam.
A very dishonest book claiming to prove Jesus was just a prophet (arguing from a gnostic gospel, that I found had been proved to be a fraud by scholars decades ago)
A few nasty experiences of intimidating religiously-inspired behaviour on hols in a mohameddan country
A few mohameddan work friends and fellow workers
A few biographies of people who have converted to Christianity in islamic countries and have been hounded and threatened with murder + some Sid Roth interviews with such people.
Muslim people are as reasonable as any as people in themselves, but the religion does have some very bad ideas that are practiced unfortunately.
The worst idea is Mohammed saying it is a blessed thing to kill an apostate (a convert out of Islam), and that being a rule in Sharia law. That is not from God, as I hope all people of good conscience would agree.

I get it from the Quran.
I do not need to spread negative thinking about Islam. Many Islamic countries and groups do that very well all by themselves.

I try and ask Muslims, but they seem to misunderstand that I want to know about the religions origins rather than the mechanics of being a muslim.

I get my info straight from the abrogatory (self contradictory) nature of the Koran.
