The less we forget, the more we know.

Even if you do forget, you will relearn it quickly the second time around. Additionally, studying give you the upper edge...you'll know where to go to find the information you need...better jobs will result as the result of your studying well.

Studying will make you a more interesting person. And if all else fails, it will give you something to gripe about.....you may hate to do it now, but it will be something you've accomplished and will make you feel good about yourself. You'll not regret studying.

Actually, "the less we know, the less we forget" is not true. You still forget the same amount, even if you start out with less information......Which means: if you don't keep putting new stuff into that mind of yours, stuff will still leak out at the same rate. In the end, you will end up with LESS than what you started out with. It's just part of the set-up called "the human condition."

But I think, behind your question there is a misunderstanding of what learning and education are supposed to do for you.

Education is not supposed to be just a matter of learning reams of facts and details about science, history, etc. That is just the first phase. There is a *point* behind all those details--and that is to help you learn to see themes and patterns that go into shaping the natural world, as well as human culture.

Everyone knows--including all your teachers--that the details of phase one will eventually be forgotten. But the goal is for you to discover the ways in which all of those details create patterns that are repeated from culture to culture and from life to life.

In the end, your ability to recognize such patterns will help you navigate through your own life more easily. That is why employers want to hire people who have an education--so that we can be smart workers, and move things forward in a business or a project without having to be told every step of the way what to do (and not do) next. But it goes a lot further than just getting a job.

In order to have good relationships, you need to be able to see the themes and patterns underneath all the daily details---otherwise you end up doing really painful things like marrying the wrong person, screwing up your kids' lives, screwing up your own life, or just not being happy.

If the teachers/parents/etc were to just show you the patterns, instead of helping you to discover them for yourself, then the patterns and themes would, themselves, just become more phase-one details and data that slowly fade from the memory bank. The way we really learn, us human beings, is by going through things ourselves. Education is just about the safest way of making this happen--like doing a whole bunch of experiments on yourself without having to suffer the worst effects of experiments-gone-wrong.

Actually, there had been researches that proved the more we study the less we forget. Since we were trained to memorize things in school. our brain got a lot of workout and maintain in great shape. So if you dont want to get Alzheimer's disease, stay in school. Beside all that, a good knowledge always helps you in life. Wouldnt you feel bad when your friends said something and you totally dont understand it? Would you be frustrated if you dont know enough vocabulary or facts to support your point of view?

Making some use of the tuition you or your parents paid for. This kind of thinking is not going to make you a living, or good conversation for that matter.
