If life begins at conception, why do people support abortion?

in a few yrs it will all be reversed. There have been numerous advancements in the idea of "non-viable" fetus. Drs. have now determined the arguement that pregnancies ending in miscarriage 85% of the time are actual false pregnancies to begin with, meaning there was never actually a fetus to abort. The other 15% of miscarriages are only due to physical problems, or outside factors. So that ruins that arguement. Also, these people who believe they should be able to do it, because the baby "isn't viable" outside the womb, are going to find out, that towards the end of the first trimester to the early part of the second a baby born does now have a lot higher chance of survival than previously thought. The earliest that I know of "first hand" is at 16 weeks, which is actually only at 13 weeks after conception which is the end of the first trimester. Where abortion is still legal.

Then, with the advancement of newer ultrasounds and technology they have realized the fetus is actually functioning and growing at earlier speeds than previously thought. Sex can now be determined as early as 9 weeks, and the heartbeat is by the 3rd week. Keep in mind the way pregnancy is timed. It doesn't start counting from time of conception but 2-3 weeks prior to conception. So there is a possibility that the 3rd week is actually the first week of conception. Which means ITS ALIVE!!

As far as rape, why turn yourself from the victim, into the perpetrator. That only adds to the persons emotional troubles, it doesn't remove what happened. Put on your big girl panties and deal with it.

As for Medical complications, you know the risk of having sex. Any real woman would put her own selfish needs and desires aside for the possibility of their child living.

I'm sure I will get a lot of thumbs down, and "what would you do if you were raped", but I have been there!!! So anybody who wants to take that route, can stick it.

if that were the case, disposing of unused embryos from IVF would be taking a life also. for me, the abortion issue is about a woman's right to have control over her body. i do not support anything but an *early term* abortion unless there's *extreme* extenuating circumstances, though i would personally encourage against having one, and i think there should be mandatory counselling before, and after (if the woman goes ahead with it). it's a very hard decision, and i don't believe there are many women who would chose it lightly.

That's quite an enormous "IF" you have there, and that's the center of the abortion debate. Some believe that life begins at conception, and some don't.

That, and whether you believe that a woman should have the choice to decide what happens to her own body or that a woman should not have that choice.

I think you got it backwards. People do NOT support abortion if life begins at conception.

I think life begins when the umbilical cord is cut. Before that happens the fetus is not independent, it's leeching off the woman's body.
