That spanish moss hanging from those oak trees and its early summer and sippin' Ice Tea (sweet that is) and a beautiful Southern Belle saying my name David (with three syllables) and the food , "Oh Boy"!!! Call it down home cookin' or soul food or whatever,throw in some of that barbeque and if you ain't in Heavan ,you are sure close to it> Revivals; NO ONE KNOWS HOW MOVING THEY ARE FOR THE SOUL!!!!!But the best thing about 'ol Miss is those "Sweet Southern Belles and THE WAY THEY TALK!!!! It just melts a Man's heart. Not to mention the colleges down there are some of the best!!!Academically,sports,and those beautiful Antibellum Mansions. The people of Mississippi are some of the most friendly,courtious folks on GOD's Green Earth!!!! So forget those ignorant no good @#%& smart alecks who knock what they don't know p.s. U BE Happy show me your stats cause farther north in cities like Detroit Cinci.East St' Louis W. Virginia,L A, NYC,Chi Town and Jersey have a higher drop out rate and some of the crookedest cops in the USA ( Indiana was proven to be more corrupt than Loiusiana.Obey the laws and ya don't have to worry bout speed traps as I bet in your state their are more of them than in 'Ol Miss! Obviously you haven't been to 'Ol miss and what you quote is from some B movies ya saw

The problem is that most Americans only believe what they see on television. All they think is that we walk around in overalls, shop Wal-Mart, and go to the Klan meeting after church on Sunday. They believe anything Hollywood tells them. Mississippi is like every other state in the country but someone has to be last. Hollywood is the reason Mississippi is the way it is. Until now, big businesses did not want to come to Mississippi because they believed the "Hollywood Mississippi." But now, Mississippi is becoming known for the dedicated workers and educated citizens as well as clean environment that attracted Nissan to Canton and now Toyota to Tupelo. Once the rest of the country can get past Hollywood's image of Mississippi, they will be able to know what we've known all along.

You know, it's a shame that people stereotype folks in other states. I'm from California and moving to Idaho. Two totally different lifestyles. A slower pace but nice.

But you never really hear Mississippi in the news, so it's never right to judge anything or anyone based upon others opinions. So childish they are.....

Ignorance, simply ignorance. People speak without getting the facts. They draw conclusions based on rumors instead of going to the source. Always get all the information before you make a decision, that's the best thing. I have been in MS all my life and I completely understand what you mean.

Not sure why people do that.....I would assume it's becaues they are ignorant. As with all states they have their good and bad things and should be appreciated for their uniqueness. I personally don't have any preconceived notions about Mississippi and would never make such broad generalizations. I'm sure it's a wonderful place :)

I live in Wisconsin and I think Mississippi is one of the prettiest, nicest states we have. When I was there everyone seemed so friendly, I love it.

they do it because they are immature and assume what ever they assume. I happen to think southern accents are elegant by the way.
