using a "registry cleaner " can be VERY dangerous , if your not 100% sure of what your doing ,change the wrong value key , delete the wrong field , and your system is going to crash faster then you can count to three , if your having a issue with the registry let someone look at it that knows what they are doing before you muck things up so bad your doing a reformat and losing data

DISCLAIMER = WARNING: = Many experts caution/warn against using these/any automatic cleaners. However if you really want to, then here you go: BACK UP YOUR REGISTRY FIRST. Backing up the registry in it's entirety (system state) can be done using the 'Microsoft Backup' feature. Unfortunately, this feature is not installed by default and must be accessed from the XP Disk.
If you do not have the XP Disk, the 'Backup' feature can be downloaded from here:- .

another registry backup program = ERUNT: = http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt It makes a backup of the entire Registry, and each backup file contains an .exe that does the work without starting the original program. Here's the tutorial: = http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/... . It can be set to make a fresh backup at each boot. http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/

An excellent, and free, program that will do the trick is called "Advanced Windows Care Personal". Go to the below link, and partway down the page click on the bar that says "Get Freebie". Install it and run it, and it'll take care of cleaning out your registry of non-valid entries, as well as doing other repairs. You can read about what it does at the below link too. Hope this helps.

None! you get what you pay for! I used a couple on my old xp and after a cleanout, pieces of programs vanish, and other stuff starts getting funky. Your playing with the soul of the system.
