How many people think Don Imus is a complete idiot? How about a racist?

And should be fired for being a racist on the public airwaves?

Let's make this our petition to get him fired... we need 500 people to answer this Q so star it and give it the thumbs up after you answer it to draw more attention to it.

Thank you.

Update:

To all of you answering that he is not racist... I understand freedom of speech. He's on the public airwaves, not a paid service like SIRIUS, so let's imagine the sdame thing. Katie starts reading the news and says what Imus said... what happens? NBC fires her, she doesn't gewt hired anywhere due to her comments and the public is educated on racism and what is acceptable and what is not!

Update 2:

You are all so bright, and you're right he should not be fired. JUST SILENCE HIM BY NOT LISTENING TO HIS DUMBA$$ SHOW, HIS RATINGS WILL GO LOWER (IF THAT IS EVEN POSSIBLE) AND THE STATION WILL FIRE HIM FOR BEING A LOSER!

He has a right to be as idiotic and racist as he wants. You have a right not to listen to the show. Nothing is as effective as making an impact ont he bottom line. Don't support the advertisers.

Also, his remarks were sexist but apparently no one seems to care about that part.

My opinion and I'm sure many others have the same. Not only is Don Imus a racist he also has a very low opinion about women. If he didn't mean what he said then it wouldn't had come out of his mouth to begin with. What he did was show HIS true colors to everyone. This man I've heard is suppose to be intelligent. Sounds like he's pretty ignorant to me. He should be fired!! I've heard it been said that he said it in sort of a comedian sort of way....um, could someone tell me what the heck was suppose to be so funny about it. Oh sorry, maybe it's because I'M NOT A RACIST DON IMUS that's why I don't think what you said was funny, and it's why I think you should be fired from your job!!!! Yours Truly MLJ

The real idiots are the people that listen to him. He's made a long career of insulting everyone. This is no different. You want him to get fired...turn him off! Let his ratings speak for the people. I believe in freedom of speech, but I don't believe I have to listen to or agree with what is being said. Don't let being PC take away our right to speak.

    May God Bless you.

What is truly amazing to me is that there is a community of people out there that instead of dealing with the issue of Imus and how his comments were insulting and degrading would rather turn the focus on Rev. Sharpten. Yes, we believe his comments are just as inappropriate at times and yes, there should be consequences to them, however, right now we're dealing with Imus and instead of deflecting let's address this racist, sexist poor excuse for a man. I wonder how quick you would be to wash away one situation with another if it were your child being hurt. Deal with the topic at hand, and when Sharpten makes a inappropriate comment (as we're sure he will) let's deal with him then. I teach my kids there are consequences to their actions, not that they can say, it's ok mom, because he does it too.

...while this guy was most definitely inappropriate and yes, an idiot, we all seen how quick Al Sharpton jumped on it. Al Sharpton, the other racist will handle it well, I'm sure.

What I would like to see, is the same race of people remove these kinds of statements from their music and cultural preferences. Not to say all African-Americans use this verbage, but many do. And many black artists today encourage this type of language in their impressions (music, first and foremost). It shouldn't be ok for ANYONE to use this sort of language, period.

He has a right to think and believe what he wants. Everyone who doesn't like it needs to not listen to him! The only reason this is even getting any attention is because it had something to do with blacks and quite frankly darling I don't give a dam...jews, whites, and every other race has had to deal with equally hard trails like slavery but only the blacks still whine about it and won't shut up and just work and proove themselves like everyone else. NOpe they just sit around and make themselves out to be conintual vicitims. Grow up and if you want equal rights take them and get rid of ***** funds, mag's, beauty contest, schools and all of your other special privileges and rights. Then maybe you won't hear about negatives about you all because 98% of them are true. And i'm not racist. Racism means: To think and belive that one is supieror to ALL other cultures/colors due to their own. And personally I don't feel this way nor do I think Don Imus does. He is truthful and sometimes the truth hurts.

As a black woman, I must say:

If Don Imus is fired then every last filthy rapper should be out of a job as well.

The things that rappers say insult me far more than anything Don Imus will EVER say.

I disagree. First, he has a right to say whatever he wants, just like you and I. I know this was said at his JOB, and if you or I said anything like this at OUR jobs, we'd probably be fired.....however...I still think that if it's ok for mainstream African-americans to use that language on a day to day basis, in public view, and even on public air/TV waves, then it should be apologized for, but not be grounds to term him.

Stop using language/terms everyday that you find offensive, or get used to others using it as well...

    To Quote Al Sharpton ...

"Somewhere we must draw the line in what is tolerable in mainstream media," he said. "We cannot keep going through offending us and then apologizing and then acting like it never happened. Somewhere we've got to stop this."

Did you READ what he wrote? He said "...tolerabe in mainstream media." He REALLY needs to turn on BET, or a local hip hop radio station....fo' shizzle

I think everybody deserves a mistake. I don't think the Imus is racist, although I disagree sometimes with how he makes fun of people. But he makes fun of himself, his wife, his son, everybody. Listen to NJ1915 out of new Jersey - the Jersey Guys, if you want to know what racist is all about.

Let's stop taking ourselves so seriously.

Great idea! I'd like to sign a whole bunch of similar petitions, too, to prevent others from actually communicating in ways that I find PERSONALLY REPULSIVE!

I'd start with the homeboys, who call each other n_____ and b_____! Doesn't seem to bother them when they call each other these things, but that's OK with me! I'll still sign a petition to make them stop!
